I love it when thieves like this get their heads blown off by homeowners. Hopefully, this will never happen to you again.

Get a glock subcompact with hollow point ammo. Also, go the animal shelter and get yourself a nice big dog. And lastly, you'll probably have to get an alarm system that rings to the police.

At least the only thing they took is a replaceable item. I can only hope that if and when this happens to me that im home, because ill be waiting for them to touch ground in my house. Then my 12 guage being fires will be the last sound they hear!

Glad your family is safe. Get the wife trained with the gun if your staying in that house. I took my wife out to shoot the Rem 870 a few times, but reading this , I think maybe I should get her out to the range again. Sad we have to resort to this mentallity because of scum.

Dang that sucks. I know the feeling. I had some people break in my house a couple of summers ago. We got a call from ADT and we were home in less than 10 mins (beat the local sherriefs dept there ). They were long gone along w 28,000 dollars worth of stuff...including 5500 dollars worth of cash. Had we got there a little sooner someone...censored for content.

damn, this stuff really gets my heart beating. Im so paranoid about someone breaking in while im not home. I've seen someone on here mention steel door jambs before, I think it was chris, they wont be kicking those in!

maybe think about a nice alarm/gaurd dog. My wife has a chihuahua that is the best alarm system she could ever have.

If they stole the laptop immediately change any passwords, when they stole mine a couple hours later gmail showed I was logged on at 2 different IP's

Hope your Leo's are more helpful then mine, couldn't get her too take fingerprints even though 2 big old full palm prints were on the back slider where they tried to lift it up.
I even tracked down a video from a local business where they used a credit card they stole from my desk and couldn't get the Sheriff dept to even go pick it up.

Man, sorry to hear that. Glad your family is safe! Do you have a home security system. That may be a good thing to look into.

Good plan, but unfortunate that your wife can't find comfort in her home now :( Maybe get a security system and always use, even when home. Glad your wife got out ok.

I'm glad to hear that your wife was able to escape. Hopefully these assholes will break into the wrong house and the home owner pulls the trigger on this trash. Remember a gun on the hip, is worth two guns in your night stand.

Thanks Everyone. I am hoping that I run across my laptop either on craigslist or at one of the pawn shops around here so I can nail the little bastards.

We have a couple dogs(mean one being a Red Doberman/Pit mix) but when one of us isn't up front they get kenneled because they chew the hell out of everything. Its too bad because she definitely would have taken a couple bites out of them.

As for the door, when I replace it, I am reversing the swing and getting security hinges(or welding them). They will have fun trying to kick in an outswing door.

That really sucks, I can't imagine getting that much stolen. The police got to the house in about 4-5 min which I was pretty happy about.

Yea, The alarm system got disconnected recently due to some major renovations. It will be getting hooked back up asap though.

Yea, I will most likely be getting a 12 and a 20 then. I would definitely feel more comfortable with here behind a shotgun than my M&P.

I think once I make a few changes to the perimeter fence, alarm, back door and get her more comfortable with the firearms she will find more comfort.

Nope, She made it out without a scratch.

That pisses me off, That is the main reason for law enforcement and they half ass it. Ridiculous.

Sorry to hear about this. Buy a big dog, my 2 boxers are good theft deterants. The 12 guage is also a great idea. I hope these people rot in hell.
