I welded, it helded.

maybe it's just coincidence but on our way to the lake today loaded down with 3 inflatable rafts, 4 camp chairs, an awning, 15 gallons of water, a handful of fishing supplies, and all the snacks my coolant temperatures stayed below 208°f and I didn't even turn down the AC.
Last time I took that drive was with an empty truck blasting the heater and it still ran hotter so hopefully that was a step in the right direction.



The lake was great

It was a hot one out there until a nice breeze brought in a few heavy clouds and some rain drops.




I managed to catch a couple fish

Better than nothing right?


Even got the dog in the kayak for a minute but trying to manage the kayak, dog, fishing pole, and phone all at the same time wasn't great. Luckily we didn't tip and the phone stayed dry but I think she prefers the paddle board


We got pretty close to this turkey before I even saw it


Then on the Hwy home I had to turn around to get a picture of this tarantula and made sure it crossed safely to the other side.

The weld doesn't have to be pretty as long as it holds!

 

At one pont the dog went down to the beach by herself and just stood on the paddle board like her own personal dock so my wife pulled the board into the lake and walked her around in the shallow water.


I did notice one small leak in my weld (so far)
luckily it's on the side so it won't be a struggle to reach

 

Aw man that's hilarious.

 

After cutting the cat out I noticed it had another bad obstruction inside the pipe reinforcing my decision to remove it.

(this is on the wider inlet side) It's thin and not near any of the welded joints, I'm not sure how it came to be. Someone in quality control must be sleeping on the job.

MagnaFlow has an exchange program so when I get a new cat I'll probably send them mine.

I did some highway driving today and it seems like it's going into boost a little bit sooner but that's not really good because it's coming on stronger while still in closed loop so it's too lean. We'll see how it does going back up hill on the way home.

 

Damn. That's part of the OEM exhaust too??? I am just quite surprised.

Time for a Haltech to control that closed loop?

 

OEM ish, The cat was replaced though a local exhaust shop after they installed the Doug Thorley headers. The only piece of OEM pipe left is where the rear O2 sensor sits.

It's past Haltech time, but I keep hitting the snooze button.

SNP is out of stock on the green 650 injectors still so that's been really easy to procrastinate.

 

You don’t need to wait for SNP. I use their 550cc injectors and they are great.

They didn't tell me it was out of stock when I ordered or I may have gotten them from LCE but SNP had them listed a little lower so I went that way.

Honestly waiting for the injectors isn't the issue, getting the base map dieled in for my specific needs with the auto trans and everything else for my model is. I also still need to do some wiring for the Haltech wide band controller and the electric boost controller (I'm still waiting on that as well).

 

I’d check with FiveO Motorsport, I purchased my 550cc injectors from them.

 

I'd rather not have to worry about a refund but if it comes down to it I'll keep them in mind, appreciate the link though

 

I heard back from Gabe this morning, the injectors will be here pretty soon

Yeah, been lurking since conception. I've had great feedback and support from members in there too.

That thread and the Turbo BS Thread have cost me lots of money but dang it's been a fun ride. I've learned a lot (and forgotten even more) along the way.

 

Another puzzle piece has arrived

 

All the puzzle pieces are put together and in place (except the injectors).

I took a moment and removed some of the oil that's been accumulating on the turbo blanket






I believe it's coming from the oil return line and being thrown back up by air from the radiator fan.

It's also starting to come apart but I've had it on and off a handful of times so that's to be expected

 

It's hard to put a price tag on quality education.
