Buy oem or high quality replacement parts.
Once you start replaceing parts with chineesium junk you no longer have a reliable toyota.

DEFINITELY agreed. I try but still have one slip past occasionally. Amazon has turned into a market place for counterfeit Chinese goods.

You can buy a starter at Autozone for $69. You can buy a water pump there for $39. I can no longer do the install myself, and damned if I’m gonna pay a shop $80 and $250 respectively for each install and buy cheap. I bought remanufactured, and paid $169 for an Aisin brand rebuilt starter and $109 for a Denso brand rebuilt water pump. Both companies parts are who made them originally for my truck. Money well spent I think.

For sure. It's harder even to find decent aftermarket parts now, notable being headlights (for tacomas at least). Mine were melted when I bought the truck. After reading for hours, I opted against buying anything not OEM. Similar issue with my mk6, need a new bumper cover, thought I would give myself a little upgrade and get the eurospec one. Right when I was about to order, the company ran out of stock, and they can't get them anymore. Got excited the other day (over a year has passed), that was used to be a decent aftermarket manufacturer had their own. Well, a few googles later, it's just the same sortafit garbage you would expect. Bummer.

You could get OEM headlights from a salvage yard or ebay.
The problem is that not many salvage yards have tacomas in them. Plenty of chevy's, fords , and dodges. Go figure!

Coming to a "complete" stop before going forward into reverse and vice versa is a good way to keep the transmission working for a long time.

I've been to 5 this last week. Only saw 1 tacoma and it was a gen 1. And only 1 tundra. At least 1 billion fords and GM trucks, even a lot newer ones like 2017+

On top of that bulb going out all the time, and melted headlights, I cracked my tail light loading up a heavy metal ramp for a trailer.

    So, I'm gonna take a gamble. https://www.protuninglab.com/20totaledtut1.html
And I figured if I just silicone'd it up well, might be a bit nicer (assuming it doesn't break / fill with water) running a h7 and h2 https://www.protuninglab.com/2lhp-tac06jm-sq-rs.html Worst case, I've spent $400 in worse was.

Was side tracked getting some smoked tails for a family members car.

I always read the bad reviews on Amazon to see if I should take a chance - I think you are correct in a number a cases "a market place for counterfeit Chinese goods" but I'd say Chinese garbage instead of goods.

My latest Amazoon experience. Package arrives open and empty. I go through their process to get another sent out. They ask I return the damaged product. They’ll send a replacement. If I don’t send back the damaged product by a certain date they’ll charge my cc for the replacement product. I reply asking why I need to send an empty package back. The seller replies they’ll happily send a replacement, I had already received the replacement. Gave up and sent the empty package back.

    Amazoon, the new blockbuster video?

I monitor fuel economy on every fill up, gives some indication on how things are operating after you collect some data from it.
