I've was playing with software defined radio, for a different project, and noticed I was picking up the Trucks TPMS signal, so I spent a little time decoding it. Few things I noticed on the Toyota TPMS signals.
    • The TPMS sensors send temperature info. Shame Toyota decided not to display that on the dash as it's one of the best ways to work out best tire pressures to run.
    • The sensors never seem to go to sleep, 48 hours without driving and they are still sending information every minute. (All other vehicles I own they go so sleep within a few hours of parking). So I don't have great faith that they will last all that long as the battery will run out. I've got a vehicle 10 year old TPMS that are still going strong.
    • My spare does have a TPMS in it, but doesn't look like it's registered in any way with the vehicle.
But what this does mean is I'm sure there are TPMS decoders out there that will display the Toyota TPMS temperature info for all those that mess with tire sizes / pressure.
