This is the same thing that's in the 4runner TE. After watching videos explaining that, I realized I didn't want to pay an extra 5k for a 4runner that offroad for me. I guess if you wanna get out and instagram your truck driving itself that's cool, but I don't see the need for it if you're an avid offroader.

I wonder if that knob has 2 functions and the buttons on either side of it toggle what it is controlling

That's what I'm thinking, but I can't decide what MTS might stand for.

and the funny part is, there is no extra parts to it.... its simply some extra coding on the ECU to control the throttle and brakes.

Hell atrac already controls the brakes really well, and traction control already controls the throttle input... the extra features arnt hard to implement.... that stated they will probably cost quite a bit extra.

I have never used my down hill assist on my 2013 TRD OR outside of seeing what it does... i like to be in control

I've used mine a few times just for kicks. It's ungodly noisy and let's the Tacoma go too fast... It tries to keep the vehicle between 3-5 mph. I do have 33's so I probably go about 6 mph downhill, but I found it was plenty easy for me to control the brakes myself at those speeds. If it kept you at 1-2 mph it could be nice for rock crawling since you wouldn't have to lift your foot off the throttle, but with an auto, it's not that hard to crawl anyway.

That would make sense. I am recalling him saying that in the video now. haha I believe he said something about it adjusting your front/rear braking and possibly throttle response for the selected terrain (sounds rather useless to me). It would be cool if it could adjust your front-rear power ratio like some Subaru's can do. Like on slick winter Highways you could adjust the 4wd system to be 90% front 10% rear and more or less have a FWD and not have to worry about your rear end walking out on you as much.

Unless this is different than other Toyptas this supposed adjust your traction settings as well. It goes from fastest ( snow setting aka A LSD) to rock crawling slowest with full ATRAC.

It makes sense. Why show all your cards to your competitor so they can match it? Show it when you're ready to sell. Probably the same thing is going to happen when the next Frontier and Ridgeline shows up.

Yeah, the first guy on the main release said it would be the most fuel efficient TACOMA to date. Not most fuel efficient truck, or most fuel efficient mid size, etc...

Ok, my dealer has "placed" my order. Translation, I have an open file that the first allocation order they make will be for whatever I want.

Provided I'm happy to wait until June.

All my cars work. I'll wait.

The only shame for me is that I have to buy a truck in April (my son is buying my SUV early April), so I'm not going to be able to wait for the 2016 TRD Sport - I'll have to go with the 2015. Dammit!
