I can relate. Me and my wife went to pick up some lumber in town today for a doghouse I need to build for our three. Took my sixteen footer square tube trailer and got two scoops of mulch to make our front look somewhat decent. I was looking cool with my truck ass down riding home.

No offense...but that is totally unsafe.

You have virtually no steering input because your front tires are just barely hitting ground.

I love it when people start their sentence with "no offense, but here's something that will more than likely offend you". Putting "no offense" in front of it makes it's ok lol Obviously he's still alive to post the pic so it's not "totally" unsafe....

Just for giggles I will weigh the front axle next time.

Really it steered just fine . Not at all like a Tri axle when you forget to lift the air axle

I would Know if it was to much weight .

Just how can you tell there is no weight on the front axle??

After all I did make 3 trips.

Perhaps you would like to see in person your not that far away.

They/he/she was lucky they didn't encounter an emergency situation. Take it for what its worth. I'm sorry for anyone who doesn't consider safety their highest priority. I hope it doesn't involve killing you, your family, or someone else.

There's a certain thing they call "Tongue Weight" - too much of it means you're taking weight off the front.
    http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2009/0...at-you-need-to-know-about-weight-ratings.html

Too much tongue load can push the vehicle down in back, potentially damaging or decreasing the effectiveness of the rear suspension and causing the front wheels to lift to the point where traction, steering response and braking can be severely decreased.

    http://www.equipmentworld.com/under...r-springs-make-a-smooth-ride-of-a-heavy-load/
Just because the front wheels are still on the ground and you feel like all’s well doesn’t mean it is. [/red]

I'm not saying it's completely safe. It may not be safe for you to do, but that doesn't mean it's not safe for others who are competent in these matters.

So...you don't care about everyone else on the road?

This has nothing to do with competency (as you mention it). It has everything to do with the mechanics & physics of the truck not being able to steer or brake when you need it (in an emergency situation).

And this is what leads me to believe you are not competent. I have blown LBJs at 55mph and kept it in a strait line, locked up my 1 ton with fully loaded goose neck and kept it in a strait line, driven 500 miles with the very situation that you claim is unsafe and I am still here to tell you about it. Just because anyone of these situations would have likely killed you and lead to you killing others doesn't mean that it will everyone. But good for you knowing your own limits.

Oh good...You're THAT GUY who thinks they can defy the odds of gravity & physics and know exactly what to do in every emergency situation and 'to hell' with everyone else on the roads. Nice....

I guess, and that makes you one of those broads. I'm just glad you're on the other side of the country...
By the way, gravity and physics don't have odds... make sure if you're going to insult someone, you use the correct words.
    I'm still alive, soooo yeah....

All I can add is how many million miles have you driven in 80,000 pound plus vehicles

How many 14' wide loads have you delivered into Manhattan 100' over length loads ??

Do you have your Hazmat tanker and doubles and triples endorsements on your CDL??

I drive in a constant state of what will happen next .

Now granted it was not the best option but better then letting the pipes freeze at least to me.

Nor would I tell someone else to do it.

Like I said I would know if it was to light on the steering axle from experience
