    hello tacoma world!
Im trying to upgrade my sub for my 2016 Toyota tacoma, it has a JBL premium sound system. I have everything connected correctly besides the LOC. i’m getting power to the app but no sound to the sub. how do I connect the LOC in this situation?

    First rule, never cut wires.

But, your LOC should be connected to the wires coming out of the factory amp to the factory sub. You can get that signal right from inside the OEM subwoofer box since it looks like your not going to be using it anymore.

    hey there ,
well I definitely wasn’t planning on cutting any of the factory cables and there is no justification for that, I ended up ordering the wrong high and low converter connection or should I say ordered first then figured out I have to run Loc through the JBL amp, then to my kicker amp, and not through the head unit. I see two or three really good post specifically on this topic. But I am missing a couple of key things such as what harness color from the sub factory harness amp do I connect to tap into for the loc?
also I don’t know if this loc needs power/ground to it?
Essentially I bought a plug and play high and low converter, that is not applicable for the JBL factory amp.
I have everything else good to go except for this. I think I’m just gonna take it to the shop to get finished because I’m out of my wits and out of my mind rn.

p.s. My JBL sub in this taco was a little bit blown upon purchase. I plan on upgrading that eight inch jbl sub with another sub.

Solder and heat shrink is going to be the best way to connect them. If you cant do that then I guess crimp connectors are your next option.

    Thanks
I definitely will Sauter and heat shrink these connections.
I plan on getting one of those digital Loc’s, soldering and heat sinking back those wires to the factory jbl amp.
if I could ask at this point would soldiering and heat shrinking be the best option for that connection back to the Jbl sub? I know there’s some other caps/adapters out there..
I just want to say I’m super thankful for your feedback and any advice will be very appreciated. This is my first install on my own and I feel like a complete dumb dum for splicing that harness. I knew better too, it was super hot I’ve been working on this audio for two days, and let my emotions get the better. I can hear neighbors laughing at this point

Solder will always be your best way to put the plug back on. Check out the audio subforum, there is tons of info in there. I suggest spending a night reading up and saving pictures from other peoples builds to give you a good idea of what to do.

These work pretty well too. They're heat shrink, solder and a sealing glue all in one. I like to use these when I have to work in the car. Less chance of me burning something with the soldiering iron (use a heat gun to melt these).

Not to bust balls, but you gotta invest in a real wire stripper too.

These are good for solid, but would never use these on stranded wires. Just my opinion.

Meh, I find those clumsy and too big for tight spots, but either is an improvement over skinning wires with your pocketknife lol.

Duh what's this? Is this what you used to connect to jbl and it worked? Do you have link? All I want to do is add amp for rear sub and I'll be golden
