Local Dealer Closed Online Ordering - Anyone Else?

Local dealer says no more online ordering or pricing - full list pricing at the counter or over the phone only. Anyone else run in to this?

They are ho-hum as a dealership, but the guys at the counter were solid and historically had pretty good pricing at this location, enough that I only mail ordered stuff once. Hoping this isn't a sign that Toyota is going to start with some MAP type stuff for parts/accessories? Is the sky falling?

You could have any local dealer in the country get parts to you in four days or less via UPS.

Personally if the local dealer’s price is not outrageous compare to online order, I would buy from local to avoid the wrong order or shipping flaws.

But in cases like today where I wanted OEM and can’t wait for a delivery (sometimes up to 3 weeks), it sucks paying the premium. $4 for a oil drain plug crush washer

OMG! the MSRP on those blue gaskets is ONLY 1.48
where do they get that 3.98 list price from on your receipt!?

I liked ordering from the local dealer because I knew I wouldn't get knockoffs, wouldn't worry about lost/damaged shipments, and, well, for better or worse it's nice to support a local business. My concern beyond that was more along the lines of "official" sources of parts all being strong armed by Toyota to adherence to list pricing and/or having to deal with a person when ordering parts (think, "this part does not match your VIN, no can do, the confuser won't let me").

They can easily do that as they have done it before. I ordered my 2014 FJC on line, had to go to the dealer to leave a deposit but frankly, the dealer [and salesman] were by FAR the worst part of the experience. I gave them very poor marks on the toyota questioaire, [they had even actually listed it for sale and never even called me, I knew it was in because I was tracking it] to the point they called me and wanted to know what they could do to have me redo it. Yeah, sorry, you sucked, fix your suckness.

ha! Not sure, but looks like people (me included) are paying since they can charge that much.
