    Would just like to know.

I have a 2012 Tacoma, 4x4 Access Cab with towing package. This included the rear-view camera, compass display, outside air temp, etc. in the expensive rear-view mirror. Can someone tell me the exact location of the sensor for the outside air temp??

It's my understanding the sensor is in the front, behind the grille.

Jesus... Don't let the 2014 guys know you have that mirror. They will have a come apart;)

I'm actually glad you asked that question. I've never even thought about it. Good to know.

In the above shown photos is this the outside air sensor? I have a 2015 Tacoma that I am looking to put the Temperature and Compass mirror from Bob's Automotive and think it may just be a plug and play since the sensor is on my radiator and the plug is already in the Head Liner. Already put the Backup camera and intermittent wipers on just thinking about the Mirror

Great pictures, thank you. Been trying to find the sensor for every and this helped. Figured out why my sensor doesn't work, it isn't there anymore. lol. Easy fix.

Did the Temperature and Compass mirror from Bob's Automotive work with the factory ambient temp sensor?

I have a 2014. Installed a backup camera several months ago & just finished installing a compass and and outside temp mirror I got from Bob's mirrors. The compass is plug and play but the temperature sensor needed to be wired. I placed it right next to the horns, there was a small 10 mm bolt right there and it worked fine. I chose that location because I understand that is were Toyota put them in older models. The only real challenge was getting the wiring through the firewall. I ended up using the large rubber boot just to the right of the master cylinder. Just poked a hole big enough to slip the wires with the plastic tubing through. This is also where I ran the wiring for the camera.

Does a 2017 Taco have the same sensor location as the 15?

I seem to have an inaccuracy in the overhead temp display in 2009. Are all 2nd gen sensors located in a similar grill area? I can’t seem to see it.

I also find that the overhead display is generally too dim to read in daylight from the drivers seat. I have to take too much time from driving to find a head position that the digits are clear. Certainly a minor safety issue.
I wish there was an independent brightness adjustment.
    Anyone dissect it yet?
