i have not seen anything. you could just get a locking gas cap! but i said screw it if they want it that bad they will just drill a hole in the bottom of the tank.

Locking gas caps prevent the opportunistic thief from siphoning gas from your tank.

yeah i know... i may do it at some point. and idk why they did not put a locking door. my dad 2000 tundra has a locking door. and it has hood struts. and not that rod you have to put up to hold the hood up.

U know what! it locks and it won't even turn but if u PUSH IT AND TURN IT (open it) BAMMMM.... USELESS!!!!! so i when back to toyota and return it. Now i'm looking something to lock the door panel of the gas. Guys, try that with your GAS/FUEL CUPS LOCK.

I bought a "Stant" brand locking gas cap and it's been working fine for me so far (been working fine for over a year now). I was more worried about some shithead putting stuff in my gas tank than someone actually stealing my gas.

My 2000 Tacoma has the lcoking mechanism,,, it broke and Toyota wants $72.00 to replace the whole lock assembly,,,, the "tang" broke off the end of mine,,, it swings down into a bracket to lock using the ignition key. All I need is the tab for the end,,,,, it looks a lot like to lock on my mailbox door!!!!

Wish they came with a locking gas door :(

I live in Oregon which is a pain in the ass to deal with a locking gas cap. I'd have to hand the attendant a key every time I filled up! Not a deal breaker but still a pain.

    None yet! It's new!
I bought a locking cap simply BECAUSE I drive through OR occasionally and I don't want some moron gas jockey touching the truck. By having the locking cap, he has to wait for me to get out and unlock it for him. I hold it while he pumps the gas and then I put it back in.

If we drive the FJ down there, I just swap the gas caps.

English please, not text message type. Thanks. Have you tried one you can buy at the Auto parts store instead?

It still amazes me that you guys in Oregon and New Jersey are required to pay someone to pump your gas...absolutely ridiculous.

I would go for a locking cap before going for a locking door. I suppose you could modify a little cylinder lock to work.

Wait in OR all they have is full service stations? That is unheard of here in the south.

They'll just cut your fill hose. Happened on my father in laws Tundra and Mother in Laws Highlander. 2 fill hoses was something like $120, plus the cost of the gas. Let em take the gas.

When I askled my dealer for the $72 lock ass, he told me that the 2000 was the only (early) year that had the locking door as OEM from Toyota
I pulled the lock ass'y out of the door today, I think I can get it all apart and fashion a new tang on my own,,, wish me luck,

I would really say it is not worth the hassle. Granted, there are news stories of people siphoning gas, but really, I would say it is few and far between.
