I bought one of your relays and it blows my IG1 NO.2 fuse which is the red with black stripe wire powering the relay. Any ideas?

Yes I double checked that and the fuse that is blowing is on the red with black stripe wire powering the coil of the relay. I just tried it with all other wires off of it and just wire 7 and 8 on which is the coil terminals and it blew the fuse. I think I got a bad relay.

I removed the diode and it works good now. Apparently the diode was bad.

Damn! I hate it when I screw up, but I will admit it when I do. When I wrote the instructions the polarity of terminals 7 and 8 didn't matter, but when the diode is installed it matters, a lot. I just looked at them and 7 and 8 were backwards from what they need to be for a relay with a diode. (fixed it so the next guy doesn't have the same problem) So, Lee250 you were were doing everything right, it was the instructions that were wrong. Sorry

I will make it right by either refunding your money or sending you a new relay.

So who here busted their diffs or stripped axle shafts having too much fun with this mod?

I feel like the only reason to do it is to go sideways in the dirt going well over 20mph. Kinda like you had a trophy truck with a spool haha

It's fun to use when ever you want.
I've done a lot just locked. Not in 4x4.
+ it's pretty cool to be able to see what the different settings as far as traction goes doing obstacles.

Just the locker works pretty good.

And of course the ease of doing donuts and sliding around.

YAAAS! I just like not having to do any clutch kicks (not even an option for auto trannies) to break loose the rear for throttle steering but I've already smoked two axle shafts on my old truck doing that . At least never wrecked the spider gears or anything else in th diff

I just bought this relay as well from the Etsy store. I did the wire up perfectly fine and also followed the 7 and 8 wiring the right way. When the relay was shipped to me, it seems you marked the relay pin #8 with a red marker and I placed the red/ black stripe wire to pin 8 on the diode relay. The locker mod works and the locker works in 2wd hi now but, now I can not disengage my rear locker.. and my rear locker light persistently stays on along with my abs and traction control light. With the switch on or off.. Please any help!!

Don't worry, just means you have a trophy truck now...

Kidding aside you must have wires it wrong somewhere or this write up isn't for your truck.
While you track it down you can manually disengage the locker. Just pull the motor from the diff and move over the fork with a flathead

My pin-out and wire colors from the ops origial post and my truck are the same? And I swear I triple checked the colors and pinouts before plugging in the relay.
