Yes, the ground needs to go to pin 7 and the power (red/black) to pin 8.

I have read this thread but just to double, triple check, this is okay for a 2006? I have ordered the needed parts and they are on the way.

Many a time I have needed my locker getting our Boston Whaler boat out of a slippery ramp or launching kayaks from a beach but not really needed 4WD Low. In such cases I usually have more traction available from the rear axle if I could just fully make use of it. With this mod I can.

Hey guys! Just fixed the issue with my rear locker. If whoever was reading this thread about 2 weeks ago, I had some issues with my e-locker. When I performed the mod the diff lock did engage and after that it did not disengage and my diff stayed locked. I checked my harness and I followed all instructions from the OP and I also double triple checked my crimps and solders. Everything was good. This led me to believe either my e-locker motor was shot, my wiring was bad, or the relay was defective. So after 2 weeks I finally had a day off and check it out today. I took out my e-locker and started by trying the switch and and watching the gear rotate. Results.. none. Then I opened the magnetic cover and looked at the internals. What I found I thought was not possible. The springs on the brushs for the motor were ejected, which caused them not to contact the motor and provide power. Took out the solenoid, and the springs were shot. They looked like hell. Almost like a kid pulled and stretched them out like a crooked slinky. So I had to toss them.. As an alternative for springs I found 2 papermate lead pencils with the same diameter springs and utilized those (There were no replacement springs at any dealer, auto parts store, or even a hobby mart full of r/c cars and parts) and they worked perfectly! Got the springs in, put the magnetic cover back on, plugged in the motor and tried the switch again. YES! It works! Reason I thought that was not possible for it to happen was because I did not ever touch the e-locker actuator since I picked up my truck from the Toyota dealer. Today was the first day I took it off And was able to take a look at it. On a second note guys, make sure you have your e-locker aligned correctly or it will not work.

Thanks OP for this tutorial, and may many other TW members enjoy this!

I'm out of town right now but I'll be back on the weekend and I'll open the shop back up then. I've got plenty of relays in stock so they can go out just as soon as I get back.

This has got to be about the most useful mods to these trucks. Did this a couple weekends ago by this thread. Works great, no problems.

Hell yea man.. Im running 488s & ARB air locker in the front but stock elocker in the rear.( I couldn't wait )And i get frustrated running back and forth to 4h to 4l just to lock the rear-end. I was thinking of just gettin another air locker for the rear but after seeing this. Might be a cheaper option

This is the mod for you. I had an ARB in the rear end of my jeep, and I missed the ability to quickly lock my truck.
