Yes but it is thick with metal reinforcements underneath. When you drop the new console vault in, it's solid.

Cool. So underneath the plastic floor of the center console is metal?

Yes and no. The threaded nuts that you bolt the 2 Console Vault machine bolts into that are welded to the metal frame underneath the console.

Real easy to install if you follow the directions correctly. You will love it. It might be my favorite mod so far. The price is cheap compared to what some of my pistols cost. I'm not worried about leaving them in my truck now.

All it takes, is one break-in to have these safes pay for themselves. How much is your gun worth, in value as well as liability, if it gets stolen?

Why would they show a long slide Glock when it doesn't fit in their product?

It is an universal picture for advertising. It would fit in the Tundra model.

Never been inside a Tundra, that pic is crazy. Thanks for that Tom! Can't fathom a center console so large. Lol

When I installed mine I could feel metal to metal contact with the two screws. Whether you are anchoring to a metal insert or the body.....I can't confirm. I love mine. Very much worth the minor loss of space for a way to secure valuables/CW.

BTW. If you use coupon code "VAULT" Console Vault gives you another ten bucks off and shipping is free. Ends up being $30.00 cheaper than Amazon.

Out the virtual door for $259.00

I have had mine in for about 6 months. Good quality, easy install. I had one problem at first as the catch was rotated 90 degrees from its normal position when I received it. I called the company and the owner was very apologetic and told me how to fix over the phone. Took about 30 seconds and a screw driver to do. I don't carry a gun, but instead lock up my wallet and other items when I change into waders when fly fishing. I think its much safer than "hiding" them in the truck, but given a day, or a few days for that matter (when I am off on a long fish hike) I suspect a thief could get it open. I would buy again.

Don't think that VAULT code is still valid.

    ConsoleVaultCode.jpg

However, code CVA2012 appears to still work.

But you can get the similar LockerDown with 4-digit combo lock for even less.

Thanks for posting this. Your original post was probably the first review of the Console Vault on TW, and initiated interest in the product.

Does anyone know if there is an under the seat drawer made for tacomas like this one for Jeep? If I thought it would fit I'd even go through the hassle of moding this. I hate the idea of losing my center console. Currently I have a nano vault cabled under the seat for when I do have my firearm but it just doesn't seem to be permanent enough.
