DO NOT use a locker for general driving in snow (I assume you're talking about on the street in snow). You will spin out at the first bend/turn. In a turn the outside wheel has to spin faster than the inside wheel. When you are locked, the outside wheel can't spin faster so it will begin to drag/slide. Only use it off road.

So its safe to say someone that does not wheel or even go off road (maybe a dirt path, etc...) a locker won't come in handy?
I'm just saying I'm set on getting an OR Pkg but I do not wheel. I do not plan on going off road where its going to be difficult. I do however go off road in the sense of fields, dirt paths, etc... will run into the occasional ditch, mud, etc... but nothing serious. Would a typical SR5 be able to handle that just having 4hi/lo?

What about towing a boat? Would a locker come in handy when pulling it out of the water on a trailer?

I can go through a lot in 2hi I would suggest you just get a prerunner, or possibly a prerunner off road with the locking diff just incase you ever do get yourself in a sticky situation

if you never plan to have any wheels in the air ( as in rock crawlin) then no you do not need lockers...you can go with the trd sport and get the awesome hood scoop.

Seriously, I can't believe people buy this truck just for the hood scoop.

One thing to add to this.. lockers in the snow on twisty roads is a BAD IDEA, it counteracts the LSD and will make turning on slippery surfaces more dangerous and causing you to spin out a more likely outcome.
