I've been wanting to swap out my center console for a locking one for some time now. Main reason is to be able to secure my handgun when I have to leave it in my truck. Has anyone put a locking console in theirs? If so what console did you use? I have 96 SR5 btw.

A 01-04 console should bolt into your truck and give you a lot more room to work with if you can find one for a decent price.

You might have to pick up the shifter bezel too depending on what bezel you have one there already. Probably best to just start out with the console though.

I've been thinking about trying to use a Tuffy or Smittybuilt 8" wide steel console made for a jeep. I think someone has already done it

Thats what I have been thinking about doing as well. I might see if the local 4 Wheel Parts will let me test fit it before I buy it.

Yes yes I'm always curious about the center consoles made for the jeep. My single cab has no center console. Let us know if they fit!

The biggest issue is that they are too wide. The narrowest part between my seats is 7-ish inches and most of the consoles are 8.25"+...
