There’s another way to lock the truck while running.

Think about this, when you shut the truck off and step out, how do you lock the doors?

By YOUR account, you lock then shut the door. But anyone else not duplicating it, shuts door then locks it.

I could but then I would be in some overpopulated state! Besides in AZ when it's 115. It's the same situation.

    Huh..
I shut the motor off, I open the door. I get out, I push the door lock button. I close the door, its locked, nothing damaged, nothing broken. If you do this with the engine running its the same scenario. I ask again, how DO you lock your doors when you get out?

    New to me.
Shut off engine, open door, close door, lock.

It must be a brain freeze thing up there...

The door locking component in the latch assembly does not affect the door latching component. You can manually keep the door by the handle and then close the door. The locking mechanism simply disengage the ability to open the door.

That I know. It's the "fooling" the ECU to lock (mechanical part) before closing the door part. Maybe the holding the handle part was/is missing for the OP first post.

Do you even bother to lock your vehicle?

You got lucky with the fooling the ECU, but have no clue how or why. I try to find out the why and it bothers you. You are that guy...

    1. Start truck
    2. Open door
    3. Press auto down drivers window button
    4. Close door
    5. Press lock all doors button
    6. Lift auto up window button to close window
The only way back in is with your key to drivers door.

Why not just lock the truck and use remote start? It only turns off when you grab the door if you are in range with the fob.

Those methods do work, its like this, its minus 30, the truck is plugged in, start with remote start. Go out and open the door, motors stops. Get in start the truck again. Drive 1/2 mile to the store. Truck is still not up to temp, get out, remote start again. Go into store, come out open door motor shuts off, get in, start the truck once again. It works, but gee whiz it sures seems like alot of unnecessary use of the starter...

Never said it bothers me, now you are just making stuff up. I don't care how, apparently the hw bothers you. and you still refuse to answer the question. Why is that so difficult for you?
