LOL... do you leave your doors unlocked when you leave the house, because breaking a window is just as easy. Same concept.

Well... he has a point. If they're determined to steal your gas... you might as well make it easier so they don't rupture your tank to do it. Still I understand why people want locking caps.

Also, my cap screws in on my '08 as well.

Is this another episode of toyota cheap out fail & there is no damn drain plug on the gas tank like I had on the 82? Haven't looked, hence the question. Guessing not if folks are talking about others rupturing your gas tank because of having a locking cap to steal gas. Of course, I suppose there are beligerant idiot fucking criminals that would still try to rupture tank vs. just taking the drain plug off to steal your shit so in the end it probably matters not. Just make sure that when you shoot their ass when you catch them doing it that the bullet doesn't richocet off the ground making spark & burn up your truck too.

IIRC, the leash comes off the door & stayed on the oem cap.

I have a 2 Stants that fit my screw in 08 Taco. First one, I lost the key and had to use a screw driver to break the lock and unscrew it. It worked perfectly.

    Second one, worked, well..... Perfectly.

No issues with both Stants. I'd recommend them.

I don't think that the locking gas cap or the console vault or the tailgate lock are going to stop the DETERMINED criminal. (I have all three.) They're going to stop the dumb kid or the smash/grab kind of person.

You can't 100% protect anything, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't spend any time/money protecting in ways you feel necessary.

I bought a Stant cap for my 03 Tacoma when I had it and it was a bit of a joke. First I was surprised that the truck did not come with some sort of a locking door but secondly I was under the false impression that this cap was the answer. Like many here have stated, I did not need the key to lock or open it.

If I were to go to the dealer, would they have some that I can purchase?

The trick with security, as with the home, is to make the one next door look easier. Or slow 'em down enough to take a good shot.

And then there is the 2 speed wiper on base models. Whats the deal with that. The intermittent wipers don't cost that much more. It's 2009, my 87 Jeep had them

Saw a locking cap at dealerhip today. It was on sale for under $10. Asked the parts guy if it would fit my truck and he told me it was no good and would trigger the CEL. Sucks, I was really hoping it would work.

Would the 5909 CST model(07 Prerunner style) fit an 09 PreRunner? Right now there is no listing for 08s or 09s and 07 is the latest model they produce according to their website.

I also have an email in to Pop N Lock about progress on the fuel door/locking cap. If anything, hopefully the more people ask, the more we might see something sooner.
