I've used stant on my last 3 tacomas however once on my 2015 after a year on there it set off an Evaporate leak code, which is common, but fit and finish are fine and no issues besides that one time which took 5 mins in my driveway to reset. You can find at autozone or Amazon.

I suppose its moot with the pushbutton starter, but is there a gas cap that keys to the main key? Had that on a Jeep Wrangler a few years ago and it was handy just using the single key.

There's the tailgate key. But no gas cap keyed to that key known to me.

What's your purpose for the cap? If it's security don't even bother.

You can twist them right off with a pair of channel locks with ease.

The bitting on the keys are also rubbish. Any yahoo with an Amazon lock pick kit should be able to unlock it. But still, it should be enough to thwart some thieves/vandals.

Might need one of those since NC is running low on gas. All the idiots are panicking and buying gas when they don't need it and now its around $2.60 and hard to come by.

My reasoning is to keep the shitbucket crackhead from stealing my gas in the middle of the night....

.. and that really is the basic point here. We're not trying to defend against James Bond. The goal is merely to add a layer of deterrence when parked at a trailhead for a couple nights. Make it not quite so easy. Perhaps they'll instead go for someone else's.

I tried siphoning gas from my 2013 tacoma and it is not possible to insert a tube in the gas tank. There is some type of filter that blocks the way.
When you don't want your gas stolen it is a good thing, but when you are 50 miles in the woods and you need some gas for your outboard motor, it sucks.

I pay $2.89 every day and that's not when gas is expensive or scarce.

I see that some people recommend the Stant locking gas cap part # 10504 it looks threaded in the white part of the plastic. But my 2006 v6 tacoma is not threaded. Stant sells one that is similar but not threaded its part# is 10509 or they have a 10508 does anyone have a locking Stant that works well on a 2006 tacoma dbl cab ling bed that is the lader of my two part stant part numbers. ALSO it important for a gas cap to be vented? Thanks

I have been using a CarQuest 10504 locking cap for the last 2 years with no CEL light. I work near a high school and want to try to keep funny stuff out of my tank. I have had empty pizza boxes and napkins thrown in my bed. Did not realize it until I got on the freeway and looked in the rear view mirror.
