    I would caution against using a locking gas cap. Thieves often end up drilling your gas tank to steal the gas. I would rather replace a tank of gas, than the tank itself. Even many RV dealers say the same thing.

    These things were popular in the seventies (dating myself only slightly). But gas thieves would break the top off of them and punch the threaded base off into the filler tube with pieces of the plastic ending up in the tank. That was also when most filler tubes were behind the rear license plate and there was more room for such shenanigans.
