I always forget my key and to me its just an inconvenience since I am constantly fueling.
    (work delivery service)

I used magnets to hold the door closed.

If you have a broken lock, this is clean and works great.

Buy small magnets or magnet stripes and line the edge inside the gas cap area and it shuts pretty well.

I got mine from two Magnetic Cell phone mounts that broke.

Here are some pictures Hope it helps.

I removed the broken plastic piece just incase I want to go back to it actually locking.

Took the magnets out of the mounts.

and finally lined the edge of the truck bed area where the edge of the gas door sits.

    Done.

It closes like a dream, and just insert your ignition or what ever key to just pull it open. ( used a small screwdriver for the video, forgot my key in the house)

    Hope this helps some one.

P.S. magnet cell holder only cost me $5.

    Thanks CodeSeven.
This is a good option for those who want to fix it.
My thing is I always forget the key at the worst time. I am not worried about getting my gas stolen, I just don't want it flapping in the wind.

I hate nneeding a key to put in gas, popped the plastic off. I never had a problem with the door staying closed with no help.

I used my ignition key to open the door - does this mean there's a separate key for the fuel door? I'm assuming this because you say you always forget your key, but if you're at a gas station the ignition key is probably in the ignition. lol
