Photos show why everyone should use locking hitch pin and lock for ball lever.

October 17th 2024; I was on I-15 south, just crossed into AZ from UT. There is a large area for pull off, I stopped for a pee break. The area is very rough. Just as the truck came to a stop, I felt a lurch, the trailer disconnected from truck! The receiver pin came out, was about 25 feet behind camper. Speculation is someone may have removed the clip at the last place I stopped. As seen in photos I was able to get hooked back up but hitch was damaged. I made it to RV Country dealer Laughlin, NV for inspection & repairs. Fortunately trailer frame is not bent, had to replace tongue jack, bought a different weight distributing hitch and heavier safety cables. I bought a locking hitch pin, and lock for ball lever.

I have a 53 quart 12 volt freezer that was strapped to dinette seat. I just set the table in back in place and screwed base plates back down.

Oof. Glad it wasn't worse and everyone is safe.
