Ive done that before but I used a rag over the pliers to make sure I don't add more scratches.

I had to use it everytime I turned the drivers side hub, it was very stiff and I could never get it to loosen up.

Did you try cleaning it and re greasing? It definitely helped me. Still like having the key tho. Don’t have to get you hands dirty. Or when it’s cold out the grease thickens and the key comes in handy.

The reason it's stiff is because the 'O' ring that encompasses the dial dry rots from age, and causes it to bind. When I rebuilt my manual hubs I bought new ones from Low Range Off-Road, as Toyota does not sell this gasket/o-ring separate from the dial assembly.

Yes I took it apart a couple times and cleaned it and greased it, got it a little better but still stiff.

These would be nice for when I have a passenger who is nice enough to get out and turn their side. Most people struggle with them.

I paid you. My apologies for not noticing payment info in post #1. Do you have these posted anywhere on Ih8mud? I bet they fit all Aisin hubs.

Got the money, thanks. And I test fitted it on the newer Tacoma hubs and the older Aisin hubs and they fit no problem. Hope that answers your question.
