Locking tailgate part?

Hi, I'm looking to have my tailgate lock when I lock my doors with the key fob. Does Toyota have a OEM part for that?

Just be aware that parts websites might say that this is not compatible with the SR5. That's because the installation sheet says to the harness along the 110v outlet harness, which the SR5 doesn't have. You just have to secure the harness along the frame instead.

 

I think there may be a thread for this ...diy under $50 affordable...I think poplock makes a kit as well $100 or more

 

If you are capable, you can by generic lock solenoids off Amazon for dirt cheap and make a bracket to mount it.

Then run some wire and connect it to the truck. I connected mine to the left rear door.

Also, either way you do it, when running the wire, I suggest building a bundle of various wires for future upgrades and run it at the same time. I ran 7, 12g and 2, 10g wires and tied them off. This came in handy when I ran a Blue power panel in the box.

 

I just installed the oem actuator, price was 130.

PK3B6-35JS0 is for a short bed,

$159 PK3B6-35JL0 Genuine Toyota 2019 & Newer Tacoma Long Wheelbase Tailgate Lock PK3B6-35JL0

PK3B6-35JL0 is for a long bed - longer wire, otherwise the same kit.

 

Buy the OEM kit, don't piece a kit together. Yea, it may be cheaper but you pay for what you get. I bought the OEM kit for my longbed and it was as well put together and the wires were perfect length, nice well thought out kit.

 

Has anyone installed the Pop N Lock system that Chloe installed on her You Tube channel or is everyone buying OEM Parts? I was given the pop n Lock kit for a gift, now I'm not sure if i should use it or buy an OEM kit.

Before Toyota came out with the OEM kit, dealers were installing the pop&lock kit. You already have the kit, don't think twice about it, just install it.

 

I've only heard people say that the oem actuator is better quality, I have no idea if that's the case. I myself prefer to have as much oem parts in my vehicles, if I can.

 

Well this was a gift and gifts are free i will install it and use it until it fails then replace with OEM

 

I would do the same! Easy install, definitely worth it!

I bought the OEM kit for mine but have not installed it yet as I'm waiting for warmer and less wet weather.

The OEM kit was $250 CDN from the dealer. I bought from the local dealer because it was the only reliable source here in Canada that didn't involve $USD or customs.
