Saw this today ,,, keeps the tail gate from bein opened. This truck has a bed cover that keeps them from being loosened and taken off. He's making me a set, and I'm going to get a different type of head bolt to install them ...it's not 100 %, but I like it.image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpgimage.jpg

Interesting but if it was my setup I'd probably go with a hitch pin instead to hook it up

In order to open your bedcover do you need to open your tailgate?

Please remember he has an automatic bed cover similar to a Rollin lock. I don't , so a lock will be used for mine.

Hard cover? Just use a pop n lock.

Soft cover? Pocket knife and pliers and what's pictured is defeated.

There are a few other items in the 'free mods' thread that give reasonable protection as well, with a bit less obstruction.

It won't, but they will allow someone to easily get through the soft cover to undo your locking mechanism by hand.

Pocket knife to slash the soft over, pliers to untwist/cut the bailing wire in the picture.

I replied to your original post; you added the use of a padlock later (I assume in place of the wire)

Granted, it will give another level of protection to the removal of your tailgate, particularly for an opportunistic theft. For a 'professional', bolt cutters are in the kit.

It is a creative solution, and could work well for many folks

The pictures are from another truck, not mine. Since he has a cover that is locking, he does not need a lock, only the pin pictured.

Looks like a pretty good idea.

Great idea. I have a locking SnugTop, but would like the tailgate to lock also. My four month old Pop-n-Lock just took a dump last week, so I'm in the market for a better solution
