so it sounds like they're kinda anal about inspection in VA... but they don't have a problem with motor swaps?

Not really, they only care about stupid stuff like lights, wiper blades, etc.

shit always cracks me up... as I understand it in AK, you can only swap in a motor that's from THAT model vehicle, but a trick is they accept the Toyota pickups and Tacoma's as the same... In Oregon, it just has to be a newer motor and have all the emissions crap. but in Oregon, you are not required to have a windshield, but you MUST have wipers... LOL

I understand the lights especially driving around in bad weather behind people who "smoke" their tail lights... but figured if a state was anal about inspection, motor swaps from another make/model would be completely off the table.

same here... the other thing I see a lot of is tinted windshields (though doesn't really bug me, but can't see how they drive at night) like 5% tint... can't see in... WTF? I'd HATE driving in that. Maybe in AZ where it's fuck'n hot as balls in the summer... but here? and I see it so often it can't be something people are being ticked for...

I'm in Phoenix and DPS is all over tint, cracks, flaps and anything they can get if they pull you over. Also, tint doesn't make a damn on keeping heat and sun out. There is no escaping that shit here.

yeah that's Oregon too... and Alaska... but here... seems like unless you're a complete ass-hat, you're not getting pulled over for a non moving violation. They'll just add it when they stop you for said asshattery
