Materials to make the cab rack are ordered.

A while back, I snagged a set of KC Gravity G4 fog lamps from Amazon on a warehouse deal for a good price.

I put them on today. They fit good and look nice. Looking forward to trying them out in the dark.

KC on the left, stock on the right. The pic makes it look like the stock one is brighter, but I had the KC aimed too low.

The new fogs make the headlights look dull in comparison. Might be time to upgrade the headlights too.

They make the paint. Looks like white black and silver are ahead of both. But gray is still higher :D

HID Projectors. You will love em. And you will wonder how you ever dealt with halogens. When i had hid projectors (fx-r) in the taco and drove my ex's pilot, i always cringed at the output of the halogens in hers.

I was looking at these. I don’t know if the quality is good or not, but I was thinking about giving them a try.

    https://www.protuninglab.com/hid-pro-jh-tta12-lbdrl-bk.html

The KCs are 5,000k so I’m not sure if the 4,300k or 6,000k option would match up better.

4300 is more white, while 6000 will have more blue in it. I went with 5000k in mine and while they were beautiful, i could see a hint of blue. I wished i had gone 4300. But its personal preference. If you go with prebuilt, i would get some clear silicone and put a bead around the seal. Cause they will likely fog up without it. Seems like so many horror stories of aftermarket lights fogging up. Even retrofitters on TW who offer the service arent immune.

I think that Leer just installed them backwards at the factory. Yep, nice wing huh? Should’ve just bought a new Civic.

I’m going to make a rack for the cab and then have all the side plates all powder coated.

Agreed. I have always loved that color!
It does attract unwanted Po Po eyes though.

Continuing on with the roof racks, I started on the cab rack. I got the side plates made. Still waiting on 4 more crossbars from TNUTZ, which should be here Tuesday.
    image.jpg

In the mean time, I noticed that the shark fin antenna on the cab sticks up a little high compared to the top of the rack.

    571D0146-7CC6-4685-A8A4-02A6E431CEEB.jpg

    B1D73A6C-4AC4-4C24-9B92-BAF7851031CD.jpg

I may take it off later and chop it down a little. That will involve dropping the headliner. I’ve been wanting to sound deaden the roof for a while now, so that will be a good time to to it.

For now though, I’ve decided that the rack needs to sit 1/2” higher off the truck. Rather than adding spacers on the topper rack, I made new adapters. The first set was 1” square tube. The new set is 1.5” square tube.

    DE8FB422-77B4-4886-864C-138568E0CCEF.jpg

The other benefit to these larger ones is that they will make it easier to access and tighten the hardware. It’s nearly impossible to swing a grearwrench in a 1” tube, but 1.5” makes it much easier.
