The weight is partly why I’m swapping. Right now with the Topper, swingout, tools etc that I carry, the stock+AAL isn’t cutting it.

These are the 96r. Supposedly they’re rated for 660lb constant load which is roughly equivalent to how much junk is in the trunk. :D

Wow. Doing the Dakar’s just lifted the ass up two full inches. I guess she was saggier than I thought.

    Front is 21.25
    Rear (before) 22.25 (after) 24.25

So now I have 3” of rake. I guess they’ll settle some, but I’m not sure I dig that much rake.

I have these 2887 coils I’ve never installed. Maybe I’ll put them on and see if I can bring the front up some. Hopefully the front won’t be too high!

I hated those boots on the 5100 rears. They always shifted around.

I thought the 886 was recommended for 2nd gen double cab? I may be wrong though.

The Dakars will settle just a little but you'll likely retain a rake.

They are if there is minimal additional weight.

I put on the 887 springs. Front went from 21.25 to 22.00. It looks a little better, but I’d like to get the front up another 1/2 if I can. It looks a little worse in this pic than it actually is due to the incline of my driveway.

    6ADD438B-5320-4FDC-B30A-611DA71C9C85.jpg

I probably could do 886, they’re about the same length but they’re rated 660lb vs the 887 rated at 590lb. The 887s I bought a long time ago before I had the streamline bumper and winch.

A couple of options I was thinking of to add a little more lift in the front are set the 5100 at .85 (which I’ve read you’re not supposed to do) or add a 1/4” spacer on top of the strut mount (which I believe translates to 1/2 of lift). Thoughts?

The ride is super nice now, though. I expected it to be a lot stiffer, but it’s actually a much improved ride vs before.

    Looks great!

You could always add the spacer, and it's thin enough so it should not adversely affect the ride. Buy the spacer, try it, and if it does happen to negatively affect the ride you can resell it.

    -edit-

The 886 has a higher spring rate than the 887?

    Wheels look great!
If you like the current ride of the front end then just add the 1/4 spacer but I would think with the 100lb sc and all the extra weight of your bumper and winch the 886's would probably be better. Then just sell the 887's.

I would shy away from doing the .85 on the 5100s. I have read not to do that as well. I would guess it will make the ride much more harsh. You could sell the 887s and get 886s and probably break even. Or like @Biscuits mentioned, the spacer would be a quick add on and see how things go.

How do your CVs look? Hopefully no fins are rubbing together? When I first installed my toytec ulk, I had to adjust them down a little. And what uppers do you have? I dont recall ever seeing red ones before.

I hear the new Dakar’s don’t squeak, but mine sure do. Turn up the stereo. I haven’t found a load they won’t carry though.

    Any change in your vibration?

I ordered some 1/4" spacers. Easy to install and hopefully that'll get it up to a reasonable amount of rake.

CV joints actually look pretty good. The UCAs are the JBA high caster arms.

I think all leaf springs squeak eventually. I have a pretty loud audio system, so I'm covered! :D After I put the Dakars on, I took off the driveshaft and compared the flange angles of the transmission and the pinion. They were roughly 2.5* different. I had ordered some 2.5* shims a while back so I put them on as well. I haven't gone on the freeway yet, but I haven't felt any vibes yet.

I got this little 3D printed switch panel a while back from @docloco and I'm finally getting around to using it.

My electric radiator fan controller has two additional inputs. "MANUAL OFF" (for water crossing situations) and "MANUAL ON" (for full fan speed, overriding temperature sensor input).

I labeled the other switch holes just for shits and giggles. I'm going to wire up my winch to have controls inside the truck, so thats what the winch spots are for. "WINCH IN" and "WINCH OUT".

The two light spots are for when I finally get my roof and topper racks. "FRONT LIGHTS" and "REAR LIGHTS". Gotta have them bro lights to be able to see at the Whataburger drive through.

I'm also planning on deleting the USB AUX port in the pic below. In that spot and the one to the right of it, I'm putting "FRONT CAMERA" and "REAR CAMERA" switches. That way I can view either camera at any time.

The switches are all ordered (from CH4x4), but haven't showed up yet.

It sits nice and flush.

That looks pretty sweet. On mine (6 speed) the cupholders took up all the room there.

Installed the headstrong offroad 1/4” spacers. The rake is perfect now.

    image.jpg

Also I welded on the Total Chaos alignment cam tabs. It took most of the day. Didn’t take any pics of it. Ran out of C25 about half way through. Had to run out and find more. Tractor Supply had the hookup. My baby cylinder is all grown up now.

    image.jpg

I was hoping to finish sooner so I could go to work and do the alignment, but yea that didn’t happen. I guess I’ll do it Monday.

Never seen those before. None in VA haha. And damn, they offer ethanol free gas! Havent seen that in a long time around here.

When i still had the taco i was driving up interstate 81 from NC and stopped at a station. They had ethanol free and i thought cool, ill be able to see how it affects highway mpgs with the supercharger. They only had 87 ethanol free :(

Preparing to add some infrastructure for aftermarket electrical things as well a clean up and reorganization of the existing aftermarket stuff.

There’s a little too much stuff crammed over on the driver side. It’s a little crowded over there with the intercooler reservoir and the catch can.

So I decided to make a bracket on the passenger side near the firewall to give me a spot to mount a Blue Sea fuse panel and a bank of relays.

This little heat sink thing is in the way, so it’s getting relocated.

    D02EC2BC-AD60-400E-A60F-DAA6063E8768.jpg

The bonus to moving the heat sink thing is that it frees up two M6 x 1.0 holes on the passenger fender that I can use to mount my panel to.

I made a little bracket and tapped some M6 x 1.0 holes in it. This will hold one side of the panel.

    B5B48AD5-5AEE-448B-A092-E339A8087251.jpg

For the other side, I tapped a couple more M6 x 1.0 holes in the AFe intake’s SAI pump bracket.

    10D617D5-C711-4257-B7BB-287262F3A2D0.jpg

The AFe bracket sits a little too low, so I used a piece of 1/2” square aluminum tubing to space up the other side of the panel. This is the end result.

    29628E4F-F909-414E-9A9E-1E764133AA85.jpg 75371C23-B880-4C3D-A902-68E00F4A1158.jpg

The fuse box and relay holders are supposed to be here tomorrow, according to tracking. So maybe I’ll make a little more progress tomorrow.
