Tried installing the alternator overdrive pulley, but couldn’t get the pulley bolt off. Had to use a swivel socket and extensions to even get a good purchase on it.

The impact loses a lot of torque with all the extra connections. I’ll just have to stop being lazy and take the alternator off later on to do it.

So I said screw that project for now and moved on to the next thing.

I’ll admit I’m lazy and I don’t wash my own truck. I pay a monthly fee at a local full service wash place for unlimited washes. One of the things I’ve noticed is when I get the truck washed, the first corner I take, water pours out of the channels in the cross bars.

So I ordered inserts for the channels. Two per bar. I little cutting to length with a razor blade and they tap in with some light taps of a hammer.

I’ll see if it makes a difference. If nothing else, it should make the bars a little more aerodynamic.

The bars look close to the cab in the pic, but they’re about 1/2” to 3/4” away. Tried to make it hug the roof as much as I could in case I park it in a garage.

Hmmm, I got the $22 48mm one. Hope I have an easier time with getting the nut off.

If I take out the fan shroud I might be able to get it loose. But I started too late and didn’t have enough time.

Testing out the lights while the paint dries. Bright AF!

Added a little trim at the edges. Not my best work, but it can out pretty good considering the time I have invested in it.

The alternator pulley is definitely the hardest pulley to swap. That bolt takes forever to break loose. Impact driver after countless tries finally came though.

LRA fuel tank is at the YRC terminal. Called them and they said the terminal is closed Saturday but open Sunday. So hopefully I can pick it up tomorrow.

In the mean time, I’m working on new side plates for the cab rack. I don’t like the Inno wind deflector, so the plan is to make my own.

Made a wooden side plate to then transfer to aluminum stock with a flush trim router bit. I think the gradual curve is decent for free handing with a jog saw and then sanding it by hand.

Position isn’t exact but gives the general idea:
