Router bit likes small bites. Tried to do a half inch bite and it got away from me a little bit. You can see the layers in this pic. Slow going but it get it done.



Had to down size the circle a hair so it would fit in the hole.

Plenty of material I still need to remove. I went with thicker material so I would have a spot to bolt the vertical piece of the hanger to.

 

LRA FTW! Dallas to Durango in the 80 and only stopped twice for gas. Still have like 10 gallons in the tank. Tacoma may need one too. For sure the other 80 is getting one.

Yeah. It’s at Tandem. Truck is at Tandem. I don’t need it right now. Hanging out with the fam. Dreaming of turboing the 80 next year...or should I just go LS...I flip flop all the time.

It’s been done, but the 1fz in the 80 series is stronger. It’s a beast. The issue is that it’s really popular in the Mideast and Australia. Magnuson made a supercharger for it for a few years, but boost was limited because no intercooler... WTF?

Woot! Volkswagen fuel pump gasket fits! I was hoping it would because I like the flanged gasket vs. the plain old o-ring that Toyota uses.

It’ll come together eventually. I had to order a 1 7/8 rabbet bit to get this last little section. The bit I have is 1 3/8”. It can only cut as deep as 1/2 the diameter of the bit minus 1/2 the diameter of the smallest bearing. It can’t reach far enough past the flange.




This is the Whiteside 1955 (1 3/8). The 1960 is 1 7/8” and will reach.


Not quite big enough. Where have I heard that before? Hmm.

Need to keep space for at least 1 car inside. I’d like to just fill up the whole garage, but I like to be able to work on a vehicle out of the rain when needed.

I’ve got lots of ideas for equipment to get (lathe, etc) but I’ll need to get more creative with the space before I have room. I think the key is the use of vertical space. I’ve got some cabinets above, but that’s not enough.

My neighbor across the street has a lathe and other stuff. No room for cars at all. He hasn’t convinced his wife to knock down a wall yet. But he does leave the kitchen-garage door open. He put seals and insulation in the garage door and airconditions the whole garage that way. It’s not perfect, but it’s very comfortable in there in summer days.
