Matte black is matte, with a very slight sheen. Urethane is shiny and has SLIGHTLY more durability according to the manufacturer. There are NO real cons with either type. Urethane is slightly more expensive than the Matte

Got a quote on Monday, made the decision to go with it that evening. Expected to get a email for shipment and tracking information either Tuesday or Wednesday but low and behold I step out my door Wednesday morning and here it is. Just finished installing it and very happy with the result. Thanks @GotExhaust for the speedy service!

Thanks @GotExhaust. Got a quote on Monday, invoice Tuesday, shipped Wednesday, arrived Thursday, installed Friday. Incredible deal, responsive service, nice product. Not sure what more I could ask for here. Obligatory pics:

By the way, that's three Home Depot HDX 17 gallon storage bins that fit nearly perfectly across the back. Great for packing loose items or grocery/Costco runs, etc.

I'd be interested to hear about how dust proof and waterproof the Lomax is from those of you who have it installed.

I was in a state park that had really dusty roads. Not sure of the exact point(s) of entry, but the bed had a good bit of dust in it. I didn't do anything extra in terms of making sure it is sealed really good, so it could be my fault.

Overall though, I love my Lomax.

I’ve had mine for over a month now, time for a post. GotExhaust hooked me up on urethane at a price I was happy with. Shipping was a little slow but not too bad, early Covid days.

I love the design. I love the look. I love the security. I especially love how quickly and easily I can remove it entirely to gain full access to the bed.

Functionally, I had to work through three problems and now it’s perfect. I also debadged it, happier with a completely clean top. It pairs perfectly with the OEM tailgate auto lock harness I just completed.

I opted out of using the gasket for now as I didn’t really need a fully waterproof solution and I have an OCD thing against adhesives. For rain and car washes, I get zero water on the bed mat. Haven’t driven it anywhere dusty yet so not sure on that but the tailgate isn’t sealed with a gasket so I don’t need the rails to be.

    Problems encountered:
    1. Mine arrived with brackets for a Tundra and instructions for a Tacoma. One call to the manufacturer and this was quickly identified and Tacoma brackets shipped out. They have information on everything inside the box which is shipped to you. Great problem resolution, definitely a vender who is able to properly support and troubleshoot problems. It seemed pretty clear that something was wrong once I started the first install attempt but I wasn’t sure if the instructions were outdated or if maybe I had accidentally missed some hardware in the box.

    2. Once I had the correct hardware and installed the rails, I wasn’t happy with the alignment on the passenger side, it wasn’t straight. I loosened all brackets and re-tightened by hand then torqued to spec. Still off. Then I realized I had done the drivers side rear bracket correct but the passenger side reversed. While the 4 front and center brackets are all the same, the rear brackets are specific to a side. You can’t mess up on which bracket goes where but you can flip the bracket and still get the rail attached. A quick flip of the passenger side bracket and now the lid closes perfectly at the tailgate. I actually filled out the contact form after catching that and suggested a quick solution they could employ might be to stamp the brackets with an arrow pointing UP to aid first time installers. TLDR, look closely at the pictures for the rear bracket and make sure yours matches.

    3. I removed the entire cover to help our pre school move. Reinstalling it felt off at the header this time. Rails aligned perfectly, just trouble latching on front passenger corner, super easy to pry up. I crawled inside with a flashlight to check it out. I saw that the plastic anchor on the passenger side was about 1cm inboard vs flush on the drivers side. I removed the self tapping screw, pushed the plastic latch close to flush to match drivers side, and replaced the screw. Now front and rear both latch perfectly and securely.

So, the bottom line, this product is truly excellent and you can expect to be completely satisfied. The install seems straightforward but there are some subtleties which are worth paying attention to for the best possible user experience.

Just picked up my Tacoma yesterday and I’ve been thinking the lomax is the way to go for a cover. Any tips on getting the best seal?
