Lomax uses a slam latch like most of the industry... Its fairly secure unless someone is willing to use force to get into the bed in which case no cover is absolutely secure including the Diamondback which is a very nice product as long as you don't plan to need the full bed and the gullwing folding design doesn't pose issues. Some don't like the heavy and very imposing look but that is relative to the owner in my opinion.

Full Undercover would another option for moderate access, easily removal and uses a rod system for latching meaning like the Diamondback you have to penetrate the lock or pry it open.

the only thing I can think of are the safety clips that attach the rail to the cover. Those are the only parts that are free to move and possibly rattle. I’d try some tape around them or something similar to see if the rattle stops.

I wouldn’t leave anything of great value in the bed. The rear corners on these would not be hard to get under and bend up. As most covers, it’s really just a way to keep people honest. It also looks way better than most covers in my opinion. I love mine, but if you need more security, go with the one mentioned above.

@mello03, I installed my new cover yesterday and my hinge seals look similar to yours, though not quite as bad. What did you wind up doing? Any help from ACI?

Mine were like this too, but after a few days of hot sun, they smoothed out. It will also do this when I leave it flooded up for a few days. Always smooth out with some time. Hopefully that is the same here.

Thanks @usmc2msu. You’re right! 77 and sunny here in Alabama. Put the truck in the sun and see a difference already.

    More thanks for Luke!

@truckalter set me up with my urethane Lomax. We need more businesses like Truck Alterations in this country. Luke was very responsive and patient with all of my questions. Shipping was longer than others experienced, but a snowstorm contributed to that and absolutely no fault of Truck Alterations.

Luke’s price was BY FAR the best (I priced all of the others).

Hopefully the pictures will give you some perspective on the quality of the urethane finish. I was on the fence, but glad I got it. Seems very tough.

Welp after reading almost every thread on tonneaus, and searching high and low for any for sale local tonneaus...here I am. Not sure what finishes are available, or even what models, but I def want a matte, and def want something this low profile. it looks great.

@truckalter Please quote a price on a matte tri fold lomax cover for a 5" bed, shipping to 15237. OOh, and a urethane one too. That looks great thanks for the pics @Skeebo
