The 3rd rail was on 2nd Gens (against the cab there is a rail). When the 3rd gens came out, Toyota got rid of the 3rd rail against the cab but many 3rd gen people have purchased it and reinstalled it like myself and fredfarmer.

The 3rd rail works with this bed cover. Installation on a long bed is different than in the video. You have to put the side/mounting rails together as they come in 4 pieces.

Since installing the cover two weeks ago, I ecperienced 20 minutes in a heavy rainstorm at 45 mph, and washed the truck today to report that I had some water in the bed. It was fairly minimal. I believe that I narrowed down the entry points. While the cover is sealed tight along rails, bulk-head, and tailgate, there are gaps that aren't sealed. I can't say that the cover is to blame. I am planning to seal these compromised areas with some of the leftover seal strip and a gate seal. Here are the gaps that I see.
TAILGATE, BULK-HEAD at tiedown notches, BULK-HEAD at side rails.

When this cover is removed, can it be put in the cab? I keep thinking that I will have a spur of the moment purchase while I am out that requires the full use of the truck bed.

Not bad, have an extang now. The quality of extang has gone downhill

I doubt it. I figure if it comes down to a spur of the moment need for full bed space, I'd run the cover longways along the bedrail or something.

Just watched your video -- very well done. Question on the tie down cleats. You mention that they can only be slide on from the end. Would you recommend putting one on (each side) before installing all the brackets (perhaps between the 1st and 2nd bracket). The sliding tie down cleats are one thing that I love on my truck and if I go with this cover, I would like to retain as much functionality as possible (one of the reasons I am still considering the Bakflip covers)

Thanks.... and... Yes.... that is a GREAT idea. Wish I would have known before everything was installed. Not a huge deal for me to remove brackets to sneak one over to the other side.

I’m guessing for the price of this ~$650?, you can’t find a better hard cover, but what about one closer to $1k...what’s the verdict on those? Need one soon before winter gets here. Thx

If you are looking for a hard folding cover the LOMAX is hard to beat at any price point. The LOMAX has been the #1 choice across many different vehicles for us. Bakflip would be the next best. Now if you want a retractable cover that is where you are going to have to spend more money.

Another satisfied LoMax/Truck Alterations customer. Love the anti-scratch textured finish. Lucas Kyle "Luke" is a great guy to deal with. Give him a call.
