Have the diamondback SE no complaints but I will say it does sweat quite a bit if you're concerned about stuff staying completely dry

Love my Lomax. Soooooo easy to take off if I decide to go open bed.

Had a Diamondback HD for over a year (sold truck with it) and zero leaks. A 5 star well made product (IMHO).

A couple other things about the DB to consider. In my case here in NC, in the summer the cover gets extremely hot in the direct sun like at the beach when I'm surf fishing.
Also, I was thinking about bed stiffeners but the way the center section attached to the bed rails it must keep the bed sides from moving in or out. Sort of like a crossmember.

I went back through my install documents and couldn't find any reference to the shims. I'm thinking the shims are only provided with the HD as the SE is rated for 400 lbs and by design should not need the support the HD requires.

I have an HD. I’m thinking it may be a recent change. I plan on calling them to find out.

The shim kit document is dated November 2021 so it could be a recent change.

Well, my dilemma is officially settled. Called Diamondback today and the guy who answered couldn't have been nicer. Said they'd be happy to sale me the bed rail shim set for $4 and bulkhead prep kit for $5. :)

That made my decision really easy, I'll go with the used Diamondback. Thanks so much to everyone who responded!

awesome! A product is only as good as it's support.
I think you made the right decision.
    happy truckin'!
