does seem that way from an untrained eye tbh, meaning my eyes.. it looks like it needs reinforcement like gfc crossmembers for such large openings..

Having had many bolts recently rattle out of an 80/20 cabinet build (I didn't build it, but shame on me for not disassembling and putting thread locker on everything), I am very happy to have a solid, welded aluminum camper!

ETA: Though it bears mentioning that the company that builds my camper is banned from TW

certificate probably expired. Https needs a certificate to function.

watched that video, I'm all for hopes and dreams but that thing looks a long way from production quality. Also I like the footprints on the door ‍♂️

the fact that the hinges are not possible and they are going back to a temporary solution, permanently is indicative of this project being rushed. It seems like a cool "open source" kind of a concept to design with crowdfunded pre-buys but that also carries a lot of uncertainty.. and there is a chance money could run out before campers are delivered

It's almost like a MLM/go fund me hybrid?

I hope they make it to production. Regardless it seems like the most stressful way imaginable to start a company and I wouldn't want to be the ceo right now.

i wouldn't call this a MLM unless he was trying to get other people to sell them. maybe more like a kickstarter?

these are still really interesting and i may consider one at some point in the future. im glad i didnt jump on the preorders though with them being 2 months behind. a 2 week road trip in the beginning of september is pretty close. my alucab is already gonna be pretty close but at least thats an hour drive from my house to pick it up.

if these end up being super well received, i could see myself getting one next year or something.

Are you getting a Canopy Camper?

If so, the CC outperforms the Lone Peak by leaps and bounds, plus you have the fact that they are actually being used, and for a long time.

    * I am biased towards the CC

    no just the contour.

the canopy camper seems like way too much weight for a tacoma.

i actually thought the lone peak was closer to 250 lbs, not 375...

the contour i ordered is around 120 lbs. the tent i have is around 120 lbs. guess ill stick with two different things unless i decide to try for a gfc if they ever add a front window.

It's not, unless you are trying to rely on OEM suspension to get the job done, but even then, OEM stuff will be overloaded with any camper, incorporated tent or not.

I'm at ~900 lb. in my setup in these photos in The Maze.

This was before going to 5.29's, the suspension handles the weight so well it's as if it isn't even back there.

The reason I say mlm is there are "brand ambassador's" who will give you like 250 in "free" upgrades if you use their links.. I'm assuming there is a kick back for this.

Hey, thought I'd share some pictures of my Lone Peak Overland camper. This is the very first production model released. I have a highlight reel on my Instagram (BudLoomis) if anyone wants to see a walkthrough of the camper. I love this camper so far and I'm very satisfied with my experience with the Lone Peak team

    none yet!
It looks really well built. The overhang also looks REALLY long. I look forward to seeing one on an access cab. I've been comparing these with the TopoTopper. Hope it holds up well for you. I'm excited to see them getting out in the world.

So anybody thinking of having a window(s) installed on the side panel? I'd really like one on the passenger side. Looked a little at aftermarkets and it looks doable but I'm not sure how the thin wall of the panel would affect installation. I looked at a basic 12x42 window with a slide opening and at 13 pounds I suppose I might have to upgrade the gas struts.

I really don't know what other factors to consider.

There have been a lot of people wanting to do this. I think it would be doable with some heavier struts. I think the overall panel thickness is plenty strong.
