So hey @BudLoomis, any more updates on the LonePeak? I got the call for finalization but not to set up an installation appointment.

I spoke to Kyle a couple days ago. Things are going really well. They have a great crew and they're continuing to improve the day to day processes. My personal experience with camper #1 has been great and I'm really excited to get out and camp very soon! Here's a shot from some winter camping a couple months ago.PXL_20240310_004804734.jpg

Got mine installed on Wednesday and hit the WABDR north. Too early in the year, hit deep snow several times above 5600'. Had to backtrack and figure out another route.

The camper is great! I had a cap and platform before and it wasn't working out. Having the tent on top leaves plenty of room in the bed for activities.

Got more pics but I'm on my phone's Hotspot and it is taking forever to load.

Looks great. I just had my call today to finalize my details. Should be picking it up mid June, the week before I head out for a weeklong trip out to Moab, Zion and a couple other spots.

Received mine back in April and have used it a few times, so far no complaints. Really happy with how it turned out, just need new suspension and a re-gear as those are my only complaints.

I need more interior pics tho

Has anyone put one of these on a first gen short bed double cab yet?

I’m curious if at this point Lone Peak has done anything to cause you to change your thoughts on this product? I’m looking at them, mostly due to the cost to feature ratio but I know nothing about metal engineering. YouTube videos seems to be very positive on them but what do most YouTubers know? Thanks!

Hey, great question. That post is over 1.5 years old, so some time has definitely passed.

I will say that Kyle has routinely demonstrated that he steps up to the plate to rectify warranty issues quickly and to the customers satisfaction. His original promise of delivery times was too short, but it has not caused too much stir. Folks are still putting down a deposit, waiting patiently, and then getting their campers.

The discussion online has died down significantly, relative to when the camper was first announced. Therefore, my ability to keep a finger on the pulse has diminished as well. The camper frame design has not changed, but I doubt significant issues will arise this quickly. Some of the interior buildouts are very well done, the integration of the powdercoated panels, and the custom products are a nice touch for sure.

Are there still better campers out there? Yes. Are there worse? Definitely. But if it works for you then I bet you could add yourself to the list of satisfied customers when your time comes.

Thanks for the reply. Any guess as to how long it would take for the structural issues you were concerned about in the other posts would start to manifest? Is it reasonable to expect 10 years of moderate use out of it? Longer? Shorter? I imagine these won’t last like an Alu-cab but they are a fraction of the cost. I’m just wondering if the trade offs are worth the savings.

This, unfortunately, I do not know. Too many variables to make a statement with any level of confidence as to a timeframe.

The savings can definitely be worth it, depending on your own use case. How will you be using this thing? How often? On a daily driver? What are the trails typically like where you will be using the camper? What kind of driver, offroad, are you?

Likely hard to draw a realistic comparison, unless you have ridden around with a lot of other folks, but if you are on the softer end of those types of questions then it is likely to last a while. FS Roads to easy to reach places, at slow speeds, for 10-30 nights a year? Yeah, it should hold up fine. Hours and hours on washboard roads, at speed, 90-120+ days a year? Not so much.

I did see a video on Instagram this year of a cracked ACCC getting repaired on the road to South America... :anonymous:

We should all keep in mind that aluminum has a fatigue life. It's just a matter of time.

What camper do you have? It doesn’t look like a lone peak. Has it been good?

We have the BAMF Drifter. Don’t get your hopes up on buying a new one of those though. Massive mess left behind by the original manufacturer that BAMF has taken on trying to sort out. But I bought ours 2nd hand and It’s been super solid for us. It’s a fully welded 1/8” aluminum construction. A bit heavy but otherwise it’s been great.
