    ^ LOL

Grabbed some Panda Express for lunch and am now on CA I40 I think maybe for my first time ever. Regardless, this will certainly be the longest solo road trip I've ever done.

Got some pretty strong cross-wind out here

Just be glad you don't have a camper shell on the truck... cross winds make it even worse!

I noticed the 56 speed 580:1 sticker in the back window! That is sick in a most enjoyable way.

My brother just commented that the three pedals in the sticker below look like judgmental faces and now I can't unsee it. Drive safe Mike and have blast in TX.

My cousin speaks fluent Japanese and lived there for 3yrs.
I got less than that coming home from work last night in a serious cross wind. I've been getting around 19 mixed which isn't too bad.

That is awesome. Someday I hope to live there!

I remember getting 19-20 MPG when I had stock tires. As for now, it's nice to see that the truck has only dropped around 15% efficiency with a pretty extreme set up.

You're welcome! Hopefully this will inspire more to make it next year!

I'm on the last 30 miles of about a five hour stretch, truck'n along, doing good

The crosswind has increased and changed to headwind which combined with the many small but steep hills out here is sure to squash MPG

Next stop will be Williams Arizona for fuel and some coffee. I only got around four hours of sleep last night and it's starting to catch up on me.

    IMG_3053.jpg

Still have another four hours to go before the first leg of the trip is complete!

Planned a 318 mile stretch which eventually got down to only "2 miles remaining" (which as we all know Toyota made this so crazy conservative)

Edit: forgot to post this photo :p
    IMG_3056.jpg

The wind got so bad that for over 20 mins I couldn't cruise the flats in 6th gear. MPG turned out to be only 0.1 lower

    IMG_3063.jpg

    IMG_3060.jpg

Prices right outside the entrance to the Grand Canyon

Speaking of which, of course I've been on US I40; I've been to the Canyon three times!! See, this is what happens when you've got too many gear ratios stuck in your head!

    IMG_3062.jpg

Also stopped at a choke and puke to put more groceries down my neck

Hey @TRD493, if you'll also note, many of my pictures are of me parking Japanese style! :D (See also the many daily driving pics in my build thread at reply #543.)

    IMG_3059.jpg

So far everything is going great. Was worried that life on the highway would be rough with 40s. These Coopers are the bee's knees!!

Regarding fuel grade, i've only ever ran premium, which in California is 91 octane. I originally did it because it's a brand-new truck, but then realized like many I'm sure that these newer engine run way better on premium and when calculating fuel mileage it's more cost-effective to run it

So many good canyons to crawl in Arizona how about a night run?

I wish the auto gear ratio was closer to the manuals in 4,5,6.

Be safe and have fun Mike.

I would kill for some night wheeling right now. I've got to get back out this way and check out some AZ trails for sure

What if you guys swapped in the manual transmission 4.30 R&P? Without changing your tire size I wonder how negative of an effect that would have for highway fuel mileage…

Also thanks for the kind words. I've essentially been running on fumes and adrenaline these past two weeks getting this truck ready, and doing a live trip reports like this is the one thing keeping my mind incredibly active and alert.

It also helps that I can enjoy movies on the big screen. Toyota really thought of everything!

    IMG_3069.jpg

Hey thank you very much for checking it out man! It's currently the most up-to-date it's ever been. I only have about two days of more progress to add maybe sometime next week

I'd like to hit the trails with you in that beast! My truck is open open, Sport 4x4, and does very well for what it is but I wish I was at least locked in the rear. It's taken me on trails I thought "absolutely no f'ing way" and pulled me to the top pretty easily! Well much easier than I would have anticipated anyway. Not why I bought the truck but I enjoy the hell out of doing it. Helps that I've met some pretty cool folks on here that have taken the time to show me the ropes.

Encountered some icy weather complete with snow on the road (more like slush) a while back

Everyone was driving so slow and I motored right through. I was hoping to find someone stuck; Been eager to get my first road-side recovery in the Taco
