do you guys have any suggestions for auto insurance? i'm currently paying $76/mo for full coverage in Nevada because I'm on the same plan as my parents. In CA, I have to get my own plan. State Farm quoted me $196 / mo! I'm 22, no records/tickets.

LA is ridiculously expensive to insure in. I moved from Ventura county to LA county and my insurance doubled.

Check with AIS. They're an insurance broker. I did an online quote for my step-son (18, first year driver). They quoted $92/month for basic liability (beater truck). When we called them to order it, they lowered it to $52. Worth a shot.

I decided to go with Geico. They quoted me $115 / mo for full coverage w/ $100 deductible. Much better than $196 from Stateform or $179 from Progressive.

I live in lakewood 10 min north of the airport. check out east Long beach, Los Alamitos,Cypress, Signal Hill, the area around Long Beach State, traffic circle, belmont shores, Cerritos, dont rent an apartment in Lakewood if you can rent a small house with a garage. all of these places I mentioned are within 15 min of the Airport... hope this helps.

Stay out of Hawaian Gardens, Artesia, north, central, and west long beach, stanton

advice come look before u put a deposit down.

Which ever place you choose make sure to check out the area at night. Especially when it comes to apartment living or anywhere near the beach parking could be an issue.

i'm almost all moved in. my studio at archstone turned out better than i thought.

there are some sirens at night and some bums but that was to be expected with living down town.

does anyone have any suggestions on where i can get some qualify furniture at a good price? I'm looking for a desk. I'm not too interested in the flimsy units sold at office max/depot.

thanks for all the input so far! you guys have been more than helpful!
