I got my sport in a long bed only because it had exactly the equipment I wanted and the price was right. The LB happened to be what was on it. So far it's only made a difference when I ordered my BakFlip cover. ;)

I've had 5 Toyota trucks in the last 35 years, only one has had the short bed.

    Never again.

12" only matters in porn. That 1 foot isn't a deal breaker for me. I had 2 long beds before my short bed and it does 99% of what my long beds did. Plus it easily fits in the garage.

    And for that 1%.....

The biggest advantage to buying a Tacoma over a 1/2 ton is the smaller size. They are easier to maneuver in parking lots and off road. The biggest disadvantage to buying a Tacoma over a 1/2 to is the smaller size. You give up cab size, bed size, payload, towing capacity and ride comfort.

A 1/2 ton truck with an extended cab is within 2-3" overall vs a DCLB Tacoma. The back seat is actually larger. You get a 6.5' bed that is also wider and deeper. You get 800-1000 lbs more payload, an 4000-6000 lbs more towing capacity. All for about the same price and fuel mileage.

If I'm buying a small truck, then I want it small. That means AC or DCSB. I actually miss the Regular cab. If I'm going to buy a big truck, I'm not going to handicap myself with all of a small trucks downsides. Just buy a 1/2 ton.

Had a 2003 DCSB for almost 2 years, wanted a LB since the day I got it. Finally got one a month ago, a 2020 DCLB.....love the extra room. Can close the tailgate with the 4 wheeler for one thing.

It all depends on your personal plans for using the truck. I like having the extra bed capacity in my DCLB and think the longer bed looks better. I ran a bed extender in it for a long time as well, but had to take it out when I put in corner braces.

No. Just no. If you fish (12 months a year), hunt, camp, sleep in your truck, move your kid to college--the 6-foot bed is practically essential. Its also a fine little commuter truck. Love the AC look but I occasionally need to transport more than two people so the AC is no bueno. Yes, the LB is a little longer on the turns than a SB but its a hell of a lot easier to deal with than a hulking Tundra or other FS truck.

Any weekends away is in the truck so a German shepard, a GS mix & a corgi/pitty mix need the space of a whole bench. Additionally, we travel heavy. Took a 4 night trip biking and I had the entire bed full as well as a Thule box...

DCLB because it's the most space you can get while still being a Tacoma

Pretty much how I feel. Also the full size trucks with their 6.5 bed look more proportional to their size. The Tacoma LB in a 4 door specs out 2 feet longer than my 67 Chevy LB and I thought it looked long! Ha!

@71tattooguy gotcha. Looked like they might have been 255/85s with that sidewall.

I would never get a short bed. Too much utility in a long bed.
