Think of all the reasons you went with a DCLB, the primary practicality of a truck comes from its bed.

I've had six Toyota trucks, all with 6 foot beds. I have no use for a 5 foot bed "truck". :D :crapstorm:

I would take a long bed if I could get it the way I wanted for the price I wanted..... In other words, I worked on getting a good deal and if the LB was an option while getting that deal, I'd take it. Otherwise, I'd live with the daily driving benefits of having a short bed.

In lest convoluted speak: Either one is really just fine.

I bought a new Sport DCLB in March '17. It was 4" longer than the '07 SR5 DCLB I previously owned, due primarily to enlarged crumple zones. Living in a congested big city, Seattle, there have been many occasions when I wished I had a shorter vehicle. But, the truck's length is not a problem once out of the city.

I've been able to fill that 6' bed, both the Gen. 2 and Gen. 3, with camping gear, bikes, motorcycles, golf clubs, duck / goose decoys, dogs / dog crates, gravel, bark, and a variety of other stuff. But going from a 6' to a 5' bed would not severely detract from the functionality of the truck for me.

Also, I could get by without the Double Cab. My 6' and taller friends find the back seat just barely tolerable for leg room. The space is useful for gear I prefer to keep in the cab, dry and more secure.

I don't like the look of a Double Cab with a 5' bed; but, if Toyota made a TRD Sport or Offroad in an Access Cab and with a 5' bed, I think I would have been interested this last purchase.

A little of this and a little of that.
If you could get the manual transmission in a DCLB...

On looks alone. Nothing is sexier than a lifted DCLB. Geezus they look so nice. Like others have mentioned, it all depends on your particular needs. Having the extra length on the bed is always nice but the trade off is you have to park the extra length as well. Get the configuration that best suits you.

yep I would have that. Instead I’ve got a DCSB with a 16 foot utility trailer.
