Also the short bed has a slightly higher towing capacity...
I think its like 100lbs or something...

I traded a 2011 Access cab (6' bed) for a 2015 DCLB. I love the double cab, need the 6'bed for camping, and dislike the extra foot of length. I guess you cant have everything. The dogs love the big back seat.

I went from a 2012 DCSB to a 2015 Access Cab, i wanted the ability to haul more stuff in the bed than the ability to haul more people.in the cab. It comes down to what you want to do with your truck, haul people or your stuff, or both.

A big part of the reason I traded my 02 F-150 Supercrew for the DC Tacoma was to get a smaller vehicle. The Taco DC long bed is just as long as the full size trucks. Works best for me, if I need to haul anything of any size I have a 5'X10' utility trailer that is easier to load and carries much more anyway.

Someone mentioned camping. The poster didn't specify if it was for cargo room or sleeping, but, I think a 6ft bed gives one or two people a lot more room if you're putting a shell on and sleeping in it.

I drove a friends double cab long bed, my dads double cab short bed and my access cab long bed. Besides different frames, turning radius and a slip yoke drive shaft I can't think of anything else other than the length of the bed lol. The TRD off road double cab only comes in short beds unless you want an Access Cab long bed.
