Perspective ??? Guess it depends on who’s your talking about.
    Look I own a 2014 F350 diesel...why??? God knows? Probably because I wanted one.
My Tacoma is a long bed..and recently I bought a short bed . Yep twins kind of.
Got the longbed to put more stuff for around the house in.
Got the short ...because I wanted it.
Both are fun both get used.
The only thing that does not get used a lot ...my ford ! It has 18k miles.
I can honestly say it’s not a fun vehicle to own. And since I’m not someone in the trades not sure why I even have the pig!
    But I do.
Tacoma’s are fun short or long Period

I agree the F350 diesel isn't really a fun truck, it's a useful truck. It does what neither of my Taco's can/should do.
It's my pack mule for sure!

Funny you don't drive your F350 much, I don't put a lot of miles on mine either. I bought it used in 2003 with 56k on it. I've only put 70K on it in my 14 years of ownership. Many of those miles were just from two week summer vacation trips of 5k to 8k miles, the rest are mostly shorter camping trips.
Hardly drive it otherwise. With only 126k miles on it in 20 years, it should last forever.

Tacomas are definitely fun short or shorter bed.:mudding:

I know what real trucks are like. I drive them everyday at work. I know my LB Taco still hauls more than your SB.

    I guess you win?? :notsure:
You made the better choice to purchase a 1 foot longer bed to haul your stuff, that works for you.

My priorities for purchase were manual transmission, and comfortably seated back seat adult occupants.

I don't think I would have purchased a DCLB even if it were available in manual. I wanted the shorter wheelbase over the extra foot of bed.
A 4Runner would have fit the intended use, but manual transmission wasn't available and price was not to my liking.

I’m from po dunk Iowa. Believe me when I say if there’s a way to fit it in my truck and I need to, it gets hauled lol. We took a mid 70’s full size Chevy truck hood and strapped it to the top of my buddies Tercel and roped it thought the windows because we had no other way handy to get it to the farm to make it into a power sled. I just like reading all the comments on here about getting a 6 ft bed because “I wanted to use my truck!”, or “because I wanted a real truck!” The longest material I’ve stuck in the box was 10ft, down the interstate no problem.

I agree with this statement lol. I didn’t get my short box because I care about maneuverability, just looks. I wheeled a CUCV on 38.5 boggers for awhile. If you don’t have room, just make it

Naw, I think the manual/auto has been hashed over and over in other threads so we should be good.

But for the record, manuals are for folks that can fully drive, autos are for those that can pretty much just steer! :brianr:

Just toss it in there. Sorry about the blurry pic, at 80 mph it’s hard to focus

I’m not sure how these even have the ability to haul more than 100lbs on a plastic bed lol

The composite bed is pretty awesome in my opinion, they are plenty strong for hauling lots of stuff and no rust problems ever!
