I like both and would have bought either. The DCSB looks better and is easier to put around town in with the DCLB is a little more handy for camping or hauling.

I ended up with a DCSB because it was the deal I found. 99% of my daily driving, the DCSB is better. I can still carry 2x4 studs and plywood in the back..... If I got to haul more, a 5x8 trailer is quite handy.

    Like, so many.
The SB are better for daily driving. They just fit better in parking garages and city streets. They are better off road.
The LB are the clear winner when it comes to hauling. No doubt.
Asthetics are a toss up. I prefer the look of the SB, but that's just me.

Ya know I watch alot of those hollywood Transformer movies, ya know, with like Megatron and Bumblebee... Or the older Macross cartoon. And i got to thinkin...

Why the heck doesnt Toyota just create a DCSB that, with a push of a button, transforms into a DCLB and then folds back again when u no longer need the space ?

    Like, duh...

IMG_1221.jpg Ok so we all know the Limos (LB's) are where its at. Either way though, whether you have a long bed or a short bed we are all winners because we all have one of the best damn trucks out there.

My top priorities were double cab and long bed. Other things were secondary. Having said that, I do wish Toyota would offer a MT option for a DCLB. Doesn't seem like it would be difficult, but what do I know? I suspect they'd sell a bunch of them.

Sick. I have two mountain bikes as well. What are you using to keep them propped up, or what should I look into buying to hold my bikes in the bed? I literally have zero idea .. Been hanging them over the bed but they have been scratching my paint lol...

You can get the front fork skewers that fit in the bed rails. I have a couple of them that I got when I had my '08, they worked just like the tie-downs.

    Not enough
I have a DCLB. I really wanted a manual and no sunroof. I picked one. I don't understand why they don't offer the DCLB in a manual either.

With what I carry for camping, especially as a group, I needed the LB. Never had an issue in the wild with the longer bed and Phoenix has big enough parking lots where its not an issue in daily driving either.

^^^ This. I wanted a manual quad cab OR. Plus, the "long" bed isn't very long so you aren't giving up much usable space anyway. It's not like a chevy where you choose short at 6.5' and long at 8' where the difference is a whole sheet of plywood laying flat. Here... shit is sticking out at an angle either way. As far as putting a couple dirt bikes in - no problem - but short or long the tailgate is down. I've got a 400 DRZ and a 250 enduro that ride side-by-side back there once in a while just fine.

I got the short bed for 2 reasons. 1. I think the long beds look atrocious. Almost like a chick with really long, skinny legs and no torso. 2. I wanted a double cab. That being said, it’s all but worthless as a truck with the short bed. Personally though, if hauling stuff all the time was my priority I’d have a diesel full size and the Tacoma wouldn’t even be on my radar. I bought the Tacoma to build into a capable trail rig that I might occasionally put a fridge in and drive across town.

Three brackets across, perfect to haul the mountain bikes and beach cruisers.
