What's wrong with access cabs? The wife and I don't have kids(not our choice) and we have 2 small dogs. Also, I RARELY have more than 1 passenger in my vehicles and I wanted the bigger bed. Hell I had the back seat of my jeep removed for years. If need to carry more than 1 other person I have my wife's Hyundai Tuscon.

As far as wanting the SB for off road I think I would just buy a separate vehicle if I were trying to off road really tight technical trails. Like a used wrangler. Anything I would be off road on is not going to be that tight.

Yes, but most of us want to get home after and fiat has a number of acronyms for the name about their reliability, I have also had a Jeep and another fiat abomination, both needed lots of work constantly, that aside bed is also great for camping if you plan to stay where you are 4x4 for awhile before you head home. If you really want something small that navigates those trails without needing to haul anything you can still get a klr650 for cheap

Nothing is wrong with them, if I could get away with one I would have considered it. I did it due to kids plus with work I often have rear passengers who join in instead of driving separate and our gear goes into one seating area. Plus family coming in every few months.

Yeah. I stated earlier (I believe on this thread) that the decisions between LB or SB and AC and DB should come down to what you want the truck to do for you. I think when making this decision before buying any truck is to write out the pros and cons of each and go from there.

SB fits in my garage, LB doesn’t and my kid no longer fits in my old extended, so it had to go for a DCSB.

Red is a smaller unit of measure as the RCH is an official engineering unit of measure of the tiniest amount. LoL

    Back to the calculator.

Per Toyota specs, the short bed is 60.5 inches.
The long bed is 73.7 inches, or 13.2 inches longer.

The long bed looks short from this angle.

Yes depending on the angle and perspective the long bed could look more balanced than the short bed but the same could be said for the short bed too.

it all comes to purpose and personal choice. I love either one, but to be honest the one I’m not a fan of is the access cab, something is off with it ;)

I followed the Italian kitchen mantra on this one. "Better too much than not enough." Long bed.

Short beds look weird to me, also I do haul a few things here and there most weeks. Could probably haul them in a short bed but would need to be a little more cautious.

The one bonus to the longbed that never gets brought up is the ride. The DCLB’s ride much smoother than the shortbeds.

I guess I'm slow to modernize. My daily driver (and only vehicle) is my '85 Xtrcab. I have owned it since new and hauled everything conceivable in it. I also have a topper and can sleep in the back. The DCLB is a bit much for my garage, so I'm going to buy an access cab when my dealer finally gets one in that isn't a bare bones trim.

I had a 2011 Base ACLB, AT 4X4 And just got a 2020 TRD SPT, DCLB VDB AT 4X4 does seem a little tighter turning, but she will be a Pavement Princess...

Everyone with a 3rd Gen has the long hood model.
