I thought this was settled? :D
Longbed is preferred for those that need a little more utility in their trucks and shortbed for those that like abilities of the shorter wheelbase around town and off-roading.

It's 2021, so we have to start all over again.

Watch out for new threads popping up asking how big of lift is required to stuff 33s on a 3rd Gen.

    All of them.
As a long bed owner my opinion is slightly biased but personally stock LB they are hideous. Lifted i like them better than the short bed. Just my thoughts tho. 20201224_133723.jpg

So I have these NFAB steps on my 2017 longbed. I was thinking of finally getting some good sliders after the lift upgrade and turning these over to my son and his 2017 short bed sport. I realize they are to long but I wonder if I take them to a shop and have the end cut off and capped, whether they’ll bolt up the same as in the longbed?????

So far every time I’ve used my truck for skiing or camping the fact that I had a long bed meant that everything fit under my tonneau cover, which is great. Can still take it off-road as well.

Wanted 4 doors. Needed short box so truck would fit into my parking stall. Short box is perfect fit for my camping load under the tonneau. Plus she tows the camper. So, got the DCSB.

my carseat-obsessed sister-in-law put it perfectly, while testing car seats (she has a problem, and admits to it, wanting to test car seat installations in anything that moves) in my LB 4-door tacoma and my dad's '14 f-150 4-door .

"your truck is just as big as dad's full size ford, but with a foot less cabin space."

How much lift and what size tires did you go with. Looks nice!

That's a older pic. I was 2.5 inches of lift on 33s. Currently sitting around 1.5 inches of lift with 35s. IMG_20210527_035224_185.jpg

This ultimately why I went DCSB after going back and forth for a while. Because for the length of a long bed you’re not far from a full-size - so it defeated the purpose of trying to get a midsize truck for me. In hindsight I’m totally happy with my decision. Agree with some of the comments that aesthetically the DCLBs only look good lifted. Trucks are for usability first (image last), so gotta buy what fits your need.

"It's not the length of the bed that matters, it's how you use it", right? Naaah, it's the length of the bed.

I do prefer the long bed. It gives me some extra space for storage. No, i don't want a tundra or a bigger truck. The long bed for the Tacoma is perfect for my need.

I wanted a M/T TRD OFF ROAD AC which comes with a long bed and that was also a requirement. This configuration is only available in Canada and thankfully that is where I live.:D

Just to be clear, yours is not lifted in that photo right? You're just using 17inch 4runner TRD pro wheels and (Duratracs?) Cause if so, I'm going to keep my Superwhite DCLB order and get the same wheels and tires as I don't want to lift the truck and didnt like the stock look of the LB. I think it also needs side steps.

I'm running 265/70/17s K02's on my truck in the photo and have an Old Man Emu Bp-51 Suspension With Dakar medium Duty Leaf Springs.
So yeah it's lifted a little, about 2 inches, but you can totally run the same wheels and tires with no lift and it will look great. Somedays I wish all I did to my truck was get some 4runner pro wheels and tires and stop there but the mod bug has bitten me LOL

Biggest reason I bought an access cab. Functionality over form. I have the truck to help with household chores. The bigger box allows me to haul more mulch, dirt, yard debris, etc. I also like the looks of the access cab.

So, once again for the learning disabled:

There is no such thing as a long bed Tacoma. There are two choices; Short bed or Shorter bed
