I also had the company add in a few drain spots coming out the back side, so in the future, i could maybe setup a aux tank thats gravity fed.

i had them add a few welded in drain plugs. it includes one stock, but i wanted one at the back if i ever added in a second tank that could just drain into this one.

Am I seeing this right in the photos ? It hangs down below the frame and goes up over the drive shaft too ?

It does go up over the driveshaft in one part. But it's plenty high to not be affected by bottoming out. And, i just looked at mine...it is about .5" below the frame rail. But, I believe it doesn't hang any lower than the stock tank.

*EDIT* just creeped on a co workers 2nd gen in the parking lot. The factory tank has a step in the bottom of it. It's level with the frame rails then drops well below the frame rails as it approaches the spring hangers. So, the factory tank tucks up .5" higher in front of the frame rails compared to the LRA but then drops 1.5"ish below the LRA tank past the spring hangers. So, break over is slightly less with the LRA but hang up clearance, over the whole length, is less with the LRA. Trade offs and technicalities. As I mentioned earlier, it's not for rock crawling

its on a boat lol. but when i was ordering it, i asked if they could put a extra set of drain plugs on it. they said no problem. i should have the tank in 20ish days. Funny how a custom tank coming from Australia can get to me faster then a pelf bumper lol

You will not pass inspection with it in CA, the fuel tank itself is considered to be part of the emissions system.

I did quite a bit of looking, like was stated earlier, most fab shops or US makers for a tank replacement have gone under or quit making them because of cost. (due to regulations) I have also seen questions about "taco lean" and "suspension changes" Here is what I did find when I was looking previously. (my math may be a little off)

    Part Number TTACDCR
    Tank Type Replacement
    Exhaust STANDARD
Location LH Side of Drive Shaft
    Fill Point STANDARD
    Capacity 129 Litres (~34 Gal)
    Relocate Spare NO
    Vehicle Notes
Only suit Short Bed Model - EXPORT
    42kg (92.5lbs) empty I think I saw. Shipping wt is 46kg

    if it is 92.5 lbs
1 gallon of gas weighs about 6.183 lbs
    Holds 34 gallons
that would be 210.2 lbs +92.5 for the tank = ~302.7lbs. (forgive me if my math is a little off)

Standard tank is 21.1 gal and weighs ~40 lbs.
21.1 gallons would be 139.26 totaling about 179.
The difference in weight is roughly 124 lbs. ... doesn't seem like it should add that much "taco lean" when looking at the difference.

This was the quote from the sales guy...
" The extra weight is insignificant in a vehicle of that size. No suspension modification is necessary."

I am very interested in the GB but depending on timing I may or may not have the $$. I am located in Monument Co, so if they ship into Denver I would likely be able to do a local pickup.

There is no smog in CA anymore it is a visual inspection of all emissions devices and an OBD2 reading. Same reason why fuel cells will not pass anymore even with stock fuel pumps.

All of the factory emissions stuff is still in place except for the box where the fuel goes. The vent recirc to the charcoal canister, the gas cap, the fuel pump, everything. I understand that the fuel tank is an integral part of the system from CAs perspective but I'm just trying to clear up that everything the truck came with except the actual tank is in place.

Thanks for all your input. With shipping into Denver, local pickup would work out fine.

trust me...I wish I could jump on this but I have two problems :

    1. My one piece drive shaft would not clear that part above the dshaft.

    2. in Californistan we're f'd now...jerry cans are the only legal option for extra fuel for a daily driver now. We travel to baja for surfing a lot and there are a couple of spots that are 4 hrs on dirt away from the nearest fuel stop and I'm lucky to get 12mpg fully loaded :/ IMG_0510.jpg

i guess i will find out when i smog mine next if it will pass or not. but i dont see why it wouldnt. they only plug in the meter to the odb2 port.
as in the past, i never had a issue with smogging a truck with a aftermarket tank, just as long as it used all the factory crap it was fine.

Jan 2016 it changed to a complete visual inspection too. They go over every item with a fine tooth comb now. Look at the stamps on the cats...everything. Now, if you know someone at an inspection shop your golden but it is a huge risk for them now to pass vehicles that they shouldn't. I've been going to the same shop for 20 years and they are really cool but are not willing to risk anything anymore due to fines and the potential for having their license pulled. Not even an aux tank is legal anymore but seems to be the best option if you make it discreet and use a transfer oump that feeds the OE tank hidden on top maybe
