Nice, I wish I had known you were going to sell that, I would have bought your carbon fiber barrel off of you. Is that a proof barrel?

Was the barrel Performance worthy of the $800-$900?

Build your own. Load your own. Current 300 Win shoots 208Gr at 2970fps.
20 MOA base and scope calibration to 2000yds :)

Running this scope in MRAD reticle. http://www.vortexoptics.com/product...cope-with-ebr-2b-mrad-reticle-10-mrad-turrets
1/10th MOA clicks and zero stop makes for good combo
Not to mention hand bedded and glassed stock
Always break in your barrel correctly...see seal sniper for this info ;)

    Watcha got?
To be honest, if I didn't get it at dealer cost..I wouldn't pay full retail ~$900 for it. But for some guys that have to lug it around (ex: PRS matches) the extra weight savings could be the selling point. Don't get me wrong, it shot lights out. But I could get the same performance from a Kreiger blank for a lot less $.

The weight reduction would be huge plus for me because I use it to ground hog/coyote hunt

Yup, lol. My axis is steadily becoming a meme machine, and I'm looking to pour about a grand into a $300 rifle... Probably just stick with the stock sporter barrel for now, maybe rechamber to 223AI.

I shoot PRS and i have a proof barrel on a hunting rifle. Personally i would advise against it on high round count rifles. Both for cost and wear. Unless you really can't get to the gym...

The barrel on my match rifle is a wear item, I run stainless 416 barrels. Gonna try a new barrel on my AR this year it’s a carbon steel barrel that’s been nitritded.

My break-in regiment for a barrel, get a decent 100yd zero, send 20 or so rounds down range and when the group starts to tighten up recheck the zero, lock it down and don’t mess with it.

Next step shoot the piss outa it, clean the action don’t touch the bore.

I was under the impression that the real advantage/reason for a CF barrel was not weight but the ability to shed heat quickly. Like your barrel never really heats up. Which in turn gives much better barrel life.

You are correct on all! I believe his statement is in regards to cost vs volume of shooting.

What kind of round count do you see before you worry about the barrel needing replaced, or is it just when you notice the performance slipping?

Depends on the cal, I’ve run as many as 8k rounds through my 308 before noticing it degrade and start throwin flyers. Usually when that happens I’ll clean the bore and keep an eye on it and get ready to re-barrel. Higher velocity calibers like 243, Rem 260, Magnums will end up with throat erosion in the chamber rather quickly due to the hotter charge.

There are guys I shoot with that will re-barrel before the beginning of each season. When you’re shooting matches once to twice a month and training you may be going through 1-3k rounds a season.

Many of the NRA high power shooters will re-barrel each season, doesn’t matter the cal.

I haven’t however having perused the website I wouldn’t mind takin one of their rifles for a test drive. The price of admission seems a bit high when you look at the tag initially but having built my own LR ARs you’re gonna drop about the same amount of coin.

Of course the first thing we’re all going to do is look at there website. They certainly look robust enough and post up good numbers on their website. Me personally, if that’s the platform style you’re looking to get into. I would stick the $2000 of that $3000 back in my pocket and go get the Ruger RPR! and put that money back into a great scope and be in the same numbers. (JMO)
