^^^^^^^^Delayed response......I'll have to put hands on the Mosin and take a few pics. Haven't even had it out of the safe for too long, haven't even shot it after modding it yet....time to end lameness and dirty up the barrel some......

Yeah it packs wallop but I am over 200 lbs and have been shooting all my life so it's not too bad. I would say the bulk of my mass is more towards the left of center line. But it's not just me, every person who shoots it said the brake isn't big enough. I looked it up and there were lots and lots of people saying savage brakes are crap. I mean yeah it could be my technique, but I made the top 20 out of around 600 in texas 4 years in a row in high school. So I don't think I'm that bad.

I have seen videos where they just pull a trigger with string and compare different brakes, the gun hardly moves. If I did that to mine, that shit would fly backwards lol

Kind of a late reply, but having a multiple caliber set up and zero'n a barrel, I would only take a few shots, that it. When I do load development, I just note what the zero is for each barrel. Then whenever I swap I dial/zero to it.
I do it mainly cause I go through so many barrels and have the ability to change it myself. Than wait for my gunsmith.
I understand it's not for everybody but it works for me. and a lot of guys I shoot with. If you can afford a gunsmith every time and to be without your rifle, that's great.

    One of these ones?

    http://precisionrifleblog.com/2015/12/12/rifle-suppressor/

    http://precisionrifleblog.com/2015/08/21/muzzle-brake-summary-of-field-test-results/

Also good reading, with more focus on intangibles and stuff that's harder to measure. Cal sure puts together one of the best resources of information on precision shooting there is with his website.

We are talking 300 win mag. I'm not even sure why someone would even spend the money to put a muzzle brake on a 308

Competition I imagine. Most PRS guys (all of the top shooters) run brakes even on 6mm's to keep the recoil to an absolute minimum.

Man that would be a non existent recoil. There is a guy on YouTube that got his .300 win mag to almost non existent with some huge brake. He was shooting soup cans at over a mile. I am not sure if it was real or not.

We had a student that showed up to one of our precision rifle clinics with a 3 Win mountain rifle, very nice custom build, but it was light and had thin contour barrel. We were straight up with him, “you are gonna be hating that gun trying to shoot it all day” he said “no worries I’m good”

Well, he was havin a hell of a time trying to shoot a consistent zero. All we require is that you can shoot at least 1.5 moa, before moving out long. His zeroing target looked like someone had been shooting 00 buck. He asked if I could check his zero. I put three rounds into and touching the 1” square of our zeroing target at 100yd then sent 5rds into a 4” dia steel target at 300yd. I gave his gun back said “it looks zeroed to me” very nice rifle but not one I would want to shoot all day.

Yeah mine weighs in at 17 lbs. I can shoot it all day no problem. Its not too bad. I can see where using an elk gun meant to take up a mtn and shoot once as a range rifle would be a problem.

Some people want to be beat up by recoil I guess. Idk, I'm gonna be putting a brake on my even my 223 because recoil is never a good thing. It's not always a bad thing, but it's never a good thing.
