Is always good to have the face to face and hands on with those in the know. Don't know if you have ever heard of
TiborasaurusRex on youtube but he has over 100 videos on long range shooting (Sniper 101) and covers just about everything you can think of.
I have watched many of his videos and they are really good. How many people not familiar with long range shooting
actually take into account the coriolus effect etc. Good stuff. :quickdraw:

I just want to see pictures of his .256. I can't imagine anyone building a long range rig in the newton or mannlicher.

Come to think of it, I'd also like to see that 69 M70 that shoots less than half MOA.

Just looked that guy up on YouTube. Half the videos are about guns, half are about God's Law and Salvation. Anyone else feel a stand-off coming on?

BTW - Savage chambered in .284 win here. Easy to find the bullets (7mm) but casings can be a bitch.

Ive got a savage axis chambered in .308,that's been tricked out , has a Timney trigger set at 1.50lbs pull , 24" bull barrel , custom machined bolt Assy , Boyds custom stock , Harris bipod , Witt machine muzzle brake and a Leupold 6-24x50 scope set in a 20moa base and also have a bubble level Cant indicator

This rifle is unbelievably accurate , at 100 yards I've had groupings of 0.324 to 0.580 . I've hit numerous bullseyes hitting the diamond in the inside of the bullseye . I've also been out past 800 yards with excellent results . I also have a dope book , wind speed indicator and weather indicator . Also know how to read wind down range

I'll post pics of my targets and the rifle tomorrow !!!

I sniffed this guy out pretty quickly. I'm no marksman, However, I have tried to "group up" at as little as 300-400yrds with a few rifles/calibers and have yet to see anything even "close" to this guys claims!!!

Yeah, a few other red flags. A 22-250, unless custom, has such a slow twist it really is worthless for long range shooting. Why you can still buy one with a 14" twist is beyond me.
    A .256? Serious?

here's my Savage Axis .308 as i promised to show a pic of ....

    savage308withboydsprairiehunterstock_zps_b6d8bc19f2bec666bba363c37225fa9580090798.jpg

target @ 100 yrds , the orange decal is 3" dia and the center ring is 1-1/2" dia , bullseye is a 3/4" diamond . the (3) inside including the bullseye were a grouping of 0.580 and using 150 grain american eagle ammo . The (3) on the right side and grouping of 0.324 is Winchester Super X 180 grain

when i aimed at this target i had the scope maxed out at 24x

i can easily hit those 6" rotating metal gongs that are placed @ 100 & 200 yards with ease and is really fun watching that gong spin repeatably LOL!!!!

Great shooter! I have the .223 version. It is a Cabela's exclusive as well with a Vortex 6-24x50 Viper FFP (IIRC).

Nice - I mounted a Vortex Viper HS LR 4-16x50. Really enjoying shooting it.

BTW - nice profile name! :)

I am still looking for my scopes' sunshade. I still can't find them due to a recent move.

You have a nice profile name as well. I could tell we share the same interests. BTW, my sigforum handle is 350zee. But my Nissan 350Z is gone and it has been replaced by a 370Z. Gotta have a Z, Sig toys and a Taco, I guess.

Nothing yet. Old truck had the works.
.257 weatherby mag is ridiculously flat shooting. Can kill deer at 600+ yards easily. Coyotes even further.

Take what that dude says with a grain if salt. Coriolus doesn't come into play until you get into extreme long range shooting 1300+ and then only when your shooting north/south. The time of flight is the critical component, a 308 with starting mv of 2750fps will connect at 1000yd in about 1.5 - 1.75 sec, the wind will have much more effect on the projectile than the rotation of the earth.

Yeah, wind is the enemy in long range shooting. It's why velocity is not necessarily a huge factor in picking a long range round. High BC is where it's at. I love my 25 caliber rifles for hunting, but there are no decent 25 caliber bullets for long range shooting.

If I was building a new rifle today, I'd probably go with a fast twist .243 or 6X47L. So many new bullets have come out in the last 10 years it's amazing. I remember when scenars where the end all be all, now they're also-rans. Unfortunately my gun budget is depleted and my safes are full. I've reduced my inventory quite a bit over the last few years and only keep one LR rifle. A Mark Chanlynn built 7-08 in a McMillan A5. I spend most of my time inside 900yds and it does everything I need it to.

It was a bit early to get into a discussion of exterior ballistics, but yes the BC and its relation to how the projectile sheds velocity plays heavy in the longrange game. Another factor is how well the projectile makes the transition through the transonic barrier when shooting past it's supersonic limit.

    Here's my 708,..
