Yep reading wind especially down range is critical in getting your rds were you want them

Just found this thread. Figured I would join in in the discussions. I shoot a Savage 6.5x284 and love it. Other than a new trigger and some minor gunsmithing work it's mostly stock. Scope is a Leupold VX3 6.5x20 AO that I've had forever. Shoots .19-.25 consistently at 100 yards.

This gun has killed all sorts of game as small as coyotes and as large as bull elk. Half way considered selling it to pick up a new Ruger Precision in 6.5 Creedmore. Just can't bring myself to let it go!

Ewww sweet. I have a soft spot for anything 6.5. How many rds do you have through it? Seems like the general consensus is they are great but eat barrels pretty quick. But I assume if you reload you could tame it alittle.

I have about 250 rounds through it. I reload but I'm only pushing 2850 fps so fairly light loads. "They" say at 900-1000 rounds groups will start to walk a little but I'm not really worried about it since I'm not a bench shooter. It's my hunting rifle and between trigger time practicing and maybe a few rounds every hunting season I may never see 1000 rounds.

I dropped a pacnor 6.5x55 barrel on my 30-06 savage 110. I push them a little hotter than most books tell you to. I get from 2700-2750. Just picked up a box of 143 gr Eld-X bullets can't wait to try them.

Let me know how they perform. I'm shooting the 140 AMAX and they are deadly. I've been wanting to try the new eld-x but my turrets are custom made for the AMAX and I would have to complete an entire new dope chart for the eld-x.

If I decide to go with the new Ruger Precision in 6.5 Creedmore I'll go with the eld-x for sure.

How did you get the pictures of Williamsport? I broke the World records on one target to the left of the one where your crosshair is setting. 10 shots in 2.815 inches at 1000 yards. Matt

I've gone to a couple 50bmg shoots there. Thinking about redoing my member ship for the FCSA and going to the shoot this year.

Not sure if I posted this one before or not, but this is the only LR rifle I still have. Not a great pic, but you get the idea. Not so much into the tactical stuff, as I got plenty of that in the Army. Also, a pic of my private range I shoot on almost weekly. It goes to 500 yards.

Here is another pic that shows the forend a little better to get an idea of the color scheme:

I have a 308 remmy 700 love to shoot it. it can hit what you wanna hit with the 20moa base and right scope or if you have good eye that too

but if I can go back I would go with 300 win higher velocity speed from what I understand and not as heavy as the 308

I thought this would be better here than in the funny pics thread.

Well my cousin and I just went out shooting. Our target twovmilk jugs. We shot a total of 40rds I shot 10 then he shot 10 ect ect. No we didn't hit them. So so very very close so many times. It's tough trying to see a milk jug at 1500yd with a 20 power scope not impossible but tough. Also could not read wind at all. I forgot my flags. But it wasn't too windy. Although I'm not sure about in the valley I was shooting across.

I really need to get mine out sometime but where I'm at to get to an area where I could shoot long range would be
a long drive, or I just haven't talked to the right person yet that knows of somewhere close. I wanted one of these for years and finally about 1 1/2 years ago finally got it and have almost 200 rds for it. Ranges around here go to 300 yds and typically
    frown on the big boom.
Now since I haven't been shooting it I am at the point of trying to sell it for other things that I would use.
Wanted the M82A1 more but just too much money so got the M99. So yeah, I think I need to be asking around
more and find a place or just say screw and go for a drive.

Sweet. Here is a pic of my cousin behind my 50 getting ready to throw some lead. Our target was right at the border between the green field and the brown.
