Groups good and pushes 178 elds out a little past 1000y just fine.

I have more LR and ELR setups but i didn’t want to start off loading the safe to take pictures.

Don’t we all. If you know how to dope a firing solution and spin turrets, I recommend swfa though. Doesn’t break the bank but works well. S&B or nightforce for the more serious work. I like vortex on my hunting rigs.

Yeah I’m in the market for a Vortex or a Zeiss. I run vortex binos etc for my hunting gear and I like the company. NF is way out of my budget.

You may can still call Cameraland or some other guys looking to make a sale on the Athlon Ares BTR. I grabbed mine for $600 on there march sale but Ive shot one match with mine already and loved it. I plan on getting the top Athlon Chronos end scope for my 6.5 Tikka and throwing this one on my .223.

Zeroed in a used Sako 75 with a Zeiss contest I took off my 7 mm rem mag to see how it shoots. 1:11 twist, seems to like 168 grain Hornady match the best.

I shoot a 40 year old Sako 22-250 (heavy barrel) and I love it ... but it's too light for your needs.

Similar answer, all depends what yer huntin as well as the environment, if you can hit accurately and consistently that’s the key

Too many critters to count have been dispatched with a lowly 22lr

Like you said, depends what you are hunting. I wouldn’t recommend anyone taking a shot past 500y on a elk who’s cartridge doesn’t end in the word magnum.

6.5 Creedmoor is functionally identical to 260 Remington, both cartridges send 140gr .264/6.5mm bullets at roughly 2650-2750fps from most typically configured rifles. This is adequate for any medium sized game, and successfully used on even larger elk-sized game. 6.5 Creedmoor isn't a hunting or precision cartridge. It's a medium sized 6.5, full stop. The only reason 260 did not see the commercial success 6.5 Creedmoor did, is Remington. They used barrels with a twist too slow for the highly sectionally dense bullets used for larger game and match use, and marketed it sparingly to the small and medium game hunting crowd as an alternative to .243 Winchester. Hornady saw the capabilities of the cartridge class, used the more modern 30TC as a parent cartridge, made lots of cheap ammo, and marketed it to the precision crowd. The way technology tends to trickle out of the competition environment and into the military and hunting spaces today, it is seeing inevitable interest from both crowds who are interested in the fact that it represents a significant increase in ballistic performance with moderate trade-offs in barrel life and terminal ballistics.

TL;DR: 6.5 Creedmoor ceased being a specialized round years ago. It is nearly as versatile as .308, as are most cartridges in that medium capacity class.

In all fairness there’s a lot of ignorance going around. Like you saying it’s not made for hunting. It’s not “marketed” for hunting, but the .260 rem was. And honestly, it’s basically the same cartridge, except the creed had better marketing and a little extra pressure. Probably because of the shoulder angle.

It’s not an ELR cartridge and it’s not gods gift to the shooting world. It works well for PRS and target. Nothing much more to say about it.

Also the US army since they run SOCOM introduced it to SOCOM specifically.

I wouldn’t bank that on conventional forces, since they just bought the new barret MRADs in .300 PRC. However, a .264 with a 30 degree shoulder angled would be hard pressed to work in a open bolt machine gun, the army would have to consider the cost to fund ammo for a million different weapon systems, which if you were in, you know how branch services love “Saving money” so I wouldn’t anticipate a creedmoor as being a conventional cartridge being put in service army wide, especially since they just dropped a ton of money on the .300 prc.

I just don't get to shoot enough, so I read LOTS, especially technical information. More of a curse than anything.

I hadn't heard about .300 PRC adoption. Good to see it, I was afraid that cartridge family might die off and leave handloaders without good brass options. Now if they'd just introduce a 7mm variant....

Looking to build a 7mm Rem Mag. Any recommendations on nice actions?
Also, any experience with the Magpul 700 Long Action stocks?
    Thanks
